Theme: CTRL + ALT + DEL: Reset the Way You Think

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

In TEDxAPUKL, we will bring you to an insight of "Ctrl + Alt + Delete. Reset The Way You Think", how people should open up their mind in order to understand how there is always more than one side to anything. Take control, change yourself for the better, step out of that box and reset the way you think.

Throughout the event, there will be an estimate of 10 speakers that will share their story and experiences. The audience will be entertained with performances in-between talks and a short break will be provided along with refreshments to keep the audience well-hydrated.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida Mustapha

Academician at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

Aida received her B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from UPM focusing on dialogue systems. At present, she is serving UTHM as the Deputy Director for Research Grant Management at the Research Management Center. She has published more than 150 refereed publications in the area of Soft Computing, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Computational Linguistics and Software Agents. Her main passion is pursuing the area of Computational Linguistics; special interests include natural language understanding, ontology, dialogue systems, and application of natural language processing to holy texts, in particular the Quran. She has supervised more than 15 Phd students and involved in more than 2 million worth of research projects. She is also a certified hypnotherapist.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Masrah Azrifah Azmi Murad

Masrah Azrifah Azmi Murad is currently an associate professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM where she is also the Deputy Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. She received her BSc., MIT, and PhD degrees from Drexel University, USA, UKM, and the University of Bristol, UK respectively. Her work has been widely published in over 100 international journals, conference proceedings, and chapters in books. Dr Masrah is a member of IEEE Computer Society and numerous international and national conference and journal committees. Her current research interests include text and sentiment mining, and natural language processing.

Prof Dr Ir Vinesh Thiruchelvam

Prof Dr Ir Vinesh Thiruchelvam earned his B.S in Electrical Engineering from the University of Western Michigan, USA. He completed his PhD at University Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia. He attained his PEng from the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) in 2012, his CEng from Engineering Council, UK in 2011 via IET and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE-UK). He has been involved in key education and engineering sectors such as being the Chairman of the Engineering Education Technical Division (E2TD) at the Institute of Engineers Malaysia, advisory to IEMASB, member of the Ministry of Education’s ‘STEM Task Force’, appointed to National Professor Council in 2015 and Chair of the Centre of Analytics (APCA) in 2017. His core scholarly research areas are in Sustainable Development, Reliability Engineering using Smart Devices with IoT and Data Analytics with Business Intelligence.

Professor Siva Muthaly (PhD) is Dean for the Faculty of Business and Management, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU). Siva Muthaly has a BSc with High Honors from University of Tennessee, MBA from Pittsburg State University, and PhD from Monash University, Australia. From 1990 to 2015 (26 years), Siva has held academic positions in several prestigious Australian universities (RMIT University, Swinburne University of Technology, University of Newcastle, and Monash University), and in the USA (Kennesaw State University & Elizabethtown College). Siva is active in researching and supervising doctoral candidates (27 doctoral completions). As of 2018, Siva has had over 112 publications including books, book chapters, refereed journal articles and refereed conferences. He has 4 A* ABDC ranked journal articles, which have appeared in indexed journals. He has incorporated extensive quantitative analysis, which culminated with extrapolation models.
