TEDxConfluence aims to share stories that involve the coming together of factors or ideas from different origins. Our goal is to promote interdisciplinary discussions that encourage explorations of relationships between seemingly unrelated topics to generate innovative ideas that have the potential of producing significant outcomes. We hope to introduce a diverse spectrum of perspectives to our audience and inspire more insightful conversations that will bring positivity to our societies.

Angela Sun

TV anchor/Journalist/Documentary Filmmaker

Award-winning television host/journalist Angela Sun's passion for storytelling and love for the oceans led to the creation of her first feature documentary, Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Angela directed & executive produced the film which has received critical praise and garnered 13 awards worldwide with supporters such as former VP Al Gore, Bette Midler, and Jackson Browne, Forest Whitaker. She is also emmy-nominated for her hosting work on NBC’s national travel/lifestyle newsmagazine 'LXTV 1st Look’. A Bay Area Native from Silicon Valley, she is a graduate of UCLA. Angela is the first Asian-American female sportscaster to appear on ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, Tennis Channel and Fox Sports. While Angela hosted the Yahoo! Sports Minute, it won a Webby Award, garnered over 600 million streams, and was the longest running and #1 daily sports show online. She is currently the evening news anchor for Spectrum News 1 in Southern California.

Brad is a speaker and teacher on generosity, he has studied this topic for nearly 15 years. Brad and the I Like Giving team partner alongside businesses and churches to bring a refreshing message of generosity, impacting people across the United States. His message equips leaders improving the health of their teams and churches around the country. Brad also facilitates custom family meetings to help families discuss generosity with every generation, so that their values and story live on. He has been invited to speak to groups all over the country, including Johns Hopkins University, PBS, Kaiser Institute for Health and Fox News. I Like Giving has been featured by organizations including National Geographic and The Today Show.

Drew Formsma

Drew Formsma is widely known as a voice to his generation and a peer who can communicate with them unlike any adult. He began speaking with his dad in 2016 at the age of fourteen to audiences of tens of thousands of people around the world on the simple idea that generosity is the key to a better life. Drew Co-Authored the book Everyday Generosity becoming a generous family in a selfie world with his dad at the age of sixteen.

Waheed Gardezi

Waheed is a passionate educational consultant with extensive experience assisting students navigate the college admissions process. He is a 2009 graduate of Harvard College and a former interviewer for the Harvard College Office of Admissions. Waheed scored a perfect score (1600 out of 1600) on his SAT I examination and has worked as a college admissions counselor and SAT instructor in the US and Asia. His favorite part of working as a college admissions counselor is helping students craft narratives that authentically reflect their personal experiences and enable them to gain admission to top universities.
