Kaitlyn Wang
Student and Poet
Kaitlyn Wang is a senior at Saratoga High School. First drawn to spoken word because of an open mic she attended as a sophomore, she’s experimented with writing and performing poetry. Her poems have evolved from simple limericks to confessional outbursts to more controlled, concise pieces. After recently realizing that she rarely reads international literature, she’s been especially interested in translated works. Although the spotlight once terrified her, performing poetry has helped her address her fears. She strives to keep poet Chen Chen’s words in mind: “My poems are braver than I am. But I am constantly trying to catch up.”
