In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Archana Timmaraju Daniel Sundaram

Born hard of hearing, with true grit, sheer hard work and of course with solid support from her family, Archana Timmaraju grew up comfortably conversing (in English) and indulging in several hobbies such as scuba diving and biking events. She is known for her latest initiative, Silent Expedition which works towards creating awareness amongst the general public on the issues faced by the hard of hearing community, and to enhance their confidence levels. Mr. Daniel Sundaram, her colleague, who initially started his career in marketing and advertising, but soon realized his passion for teaching. Archana and Daniel took up a motor cycle expedition from Bangalore to Leh and back, titled Journey to Inspire. where they inspired several communities and instilled hope.

Cohan Sujay Carlos

CEO, ML Researcher and Consultant

Cohan Sujay Carlos is a researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence and a startup entrepreneur, excelling equally in both fields. He is the CEO of Mechanical Chef, a startup firm that aims at teaching robots the fine art of culinary skills. Cohan has worked at numerous startups and large firms outside India, but has now returned to Bangalore, where his roots are and where he spent his growing years. Aiaioo labs, a research lab in machine learning is to his credit. Cohan later co-invented the Mechanical Chef, a robot that cooks for the home. The idea came as a spark to him when he was prompted by a colleague who didn't fancy spending evenings in the kitchen, cooking. Artificial Intelligence is a field in which much progress has been made over the past years and the trust on Artificial Intelligence has dramatically increased. His talk will revolve around this very idea of "trust" and also the various forces that shaped the idea and its development.

D.B. Rai

Colonel D.B. Rai joined the Indian Army after graduating with a degree in Commerce. He has served all over India and has served in Lebanon as a part of United Nations Peace Keeping Force. With a gold medal awarded by the president for standing First in the order of Merit in 1996, he has also been felicitated with Army Commander's Commendation Card in 2016. He is currently posted in Karnataka, Bangalore.

Dr. Prabha S. Chandra

Psychiatrist, teacher

Dr. Prabha Chandra has been a title-holder for Women's Mental Health all the way from 1992, currently she is a professor of psychiatry and heads that department at the National Institute of Mental health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. Dr. Prabha has a deep understanding of the human behaviour and its association in society which shows in her work, that has delved into women facing trauma such as partner violence and sexual assault. Along with her team, she started the first mother baby psychiatric facility in Asia where mothers with mental health problems and their babies are cared for together. Her determined and substantial work with women facing trauma has resulted in toolkits and a curriculum on partner violence and sexual assault. Apart from being the amazing professional she is, Dr. Prabha is a therapist, teacher, researcher, dog lover and tea connoisseur.

Girish Badragond

Girish Badragond is a son of a farmer who can understand and relate to the problems in farming. Coming from a rural background, with no support or encouragement, and his hunger for technology, today, he stands as a role model for many technocrats and as a blessing for many farmers through his innovative products.

Kimsain Jidung

Kim is a development professional and is one of the many who works for the rehabilitation of the trafficked survivors in Mumbai’s red light areas with an aim to empower them to lead a transformed life of freedom and dignity. Having witnessed the trauma the trafficked survivors goes through, Kim focuses to educate the world to become agents of change in creating safe spaces for the survivors. She works as a Grants writer at Oasis India which aims to prevent trafficking of persons in the western and southern part of India among the socially excluded communities’ including those living in the red light areas.

Mr. D.B. Rai

Having joined the army in the late 1980s, a diligent individual Mr. Rai wishes people to acknowledge him as one of the society. According to Mr. Rai, there's more to the serving in the army than what meets the eye. His experience has lead to him to adapt to different cultures and befriend different kinds of people. With the possession of an indispensable treasure of encountering and exploring the country, Mr. D.B. Rai will be gracing the TEDxMSRIT stage and talking about what Patriotism means to him.

Coming from a rural background, with no support or encouragement, and his hunger for technology, today, he stands as a role model for many technocrats and as a blessing for many farmers through his innovative products. He initially took up a job as a technical director in one of the firms in Bangalore and worked for 2 years to understand the organizational structure. His inventions include the Borewell Scanner, Bird Repeller, Sequence timer, Motor capacitor tester, and Blind man farming Soil wet sensor. Girish is currently a partner at Santepp Systems, a fast growing technocrat proprietary firm in the field of agricultural technology manufacture.

Ms. Anuradha Vikranth

Professional Dancer

Anuradha Vikranth is one of the foremost Bharatanatyam danseuse of our country. She is known for her creativity, vibrancy and grace. Her boundless thirst for deeper knowledge in the field of dance has strengthened her ingenuity as a fine dancer, an inspiring teacher and a creative choreographer. She is an ‘A’ graded artist of Doordarshan. Anuradha Vikranth, has many awards to her credit. To name a few, she is the recipient of Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda State award 2018, "FLO Woman of the Future Award” by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce; Gaurav Puraskar, Natya Visharade, Kala Arati Ratna, ‘Yuva Kalasreshta” award from BCKA; “National Vocational Excellence Award” in Bharatanatyam, Vyasa Samman to name a few. She is currently one of the Master judges for the dance reality show “Takadhimita” aired in COLORS Kannada Channel. This is one of the biggest dance shows on the regional channel. She is currently, the secretary of World Dance Alliance –Karnataka Chapter.

Born hard of hearing, she grew up hard of grit, comfortably conversing (in English) and indulging in several hobbies such as scuba diving and biking events. Right from her childhood, Archana developed a deep understanding of the issues faced by children who are born hard of hearing & speaking, particularly children who are not so lucky to have received speech therapy like her. Mr. Daniel Sundaram, her colleague, who initially started his career in marketing and advertising, but soon realized his passion for teaching. Archana currently works in Aditi Mallya International School, as an Art Teacher, where Daniel Sundaram teaches Geography and percussion and both thoroughly enjoy working with children.

N.M. Prathap

Scientist

N M Prathap is the epitome of a small town boy making it big in the world. He has been hailed as a young scientist for his immense contribution to the field of drone technology. He has won a gold and silver medal and 10000 Dollars in international Robotics Exhibition held in Tokyo during 2017. His professors have great things to say about this wonderful innovator who has already started his work with the DRDO. Prathap says that this drone technology will have a huge impact on the nation’s progress in the coming years as this is a promising field where the returns are huge. Prathap has been hailed as India’s “Drone boy”. Prathap has done six major projects — Telegraphy in Border Security, Cryptography in Drone networking system, Drones in traffic Management, Drones in National Socio-Defence purpose, UAVs in Rescuing humans and Auto piloted drones — to his credit, apart from many scholarships, awards and achievements.
