Kim Schlesinger
Student
Kim Schlesinger is a Wartburg student, music therapy major. She gave a presentation during RICE day at Wartburg College about a research paper that she completed for her IS class on the topic of media presentations of sex and attitudes toward sex in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
For this upcoming event she said: "I will be sharing some funny and some not so funny stories about my process in learning to admit when I am wrong about something and how difficult but important this can be. To handle life with humility and openminded curiosity is, in my experience, the best way to build a world of cooperation and peace across generations and cultures, and it is our responsibility to admit our wrongs and listen to the experiences and knowledge of others in order to learn and grow. "

Yusra Malik
Student
Yusra is a full time Wartburg Student. She has given different talks before including one at her high school national honor society induction.
She mentions that she will relate her talk to the growth of a tree where the thought of a new idea can be related to a seed, the implementation can be related to watering the seed, and doubt relates to all the difficulties that a seed faces while growing such as harsh weather. A tree takes much time to grow to full potential and the same can be said about the change that we so wish to see in this world. It will come but it will take time.
