Theme: Future and Now?

Recently, some speeches will be held in our auditorium. We hope anyone who is willing to refresh his/ her mind from studying and wants to gain meaningful knowledge can come to our Tedx show. We are looking forward to seeing your attendance this September ! By the way, the topic we are going to focus on is mainly about nowadays life and future life, in which both are the the main concern of most of the people.

Graduate of University of Cape Town, has spent the last 15 years in a variety of fields from writing and directing theatre, to labour consulting, to education. Is currently a social science teacher at RDFZ Chaoyang Branch School.

Even though acquiring fine academic achievements, recognized as a positive girl in daily life, I have been enshrouded by a strong sense of self-inferiority for years. As a result, through out the years, I did a lot of things to meet others’ expectations, to obtain others’ approvals, retracting my spines, and shrinking into my shells. I learned about the concept of “people-pleaser” accidentally, and did a psychological research on this topic during the summer, which largely treated my own “symptoms”. If people-pleasing behaviors ever occurred on you, I would like to share my story and advice you on ways to eliminate that diffidence and stop pleasing others.

As a young girl I have been severely body shamed for three years which made me lack of self confidence. I constantly felt insecure about my body and my personal image. Growing up was not easy but I dared to write 5 letters to question the person who made me feel uncomfortable and through dancing I regained love towards myself. This spring, I carried out a research on How Teenagers Could Live a Healthy Life learning more about the secrets of our bodies, the findings were presented at Harvard science laboratory. Turning 18 I truly think it is time to say goodbye to the diffident little girl, so please allow me to share my story one last time.

I am glad to come here to share with everyone about what I experienced and gained personally in the process of drama performance and guiding actors. My name is Sunny Ning who is 16 years old senior two student. As a teenager, what is the most baffling thing to me is being laughed at, or being bullied？ Since I was in middle school, there were bullying happens all the time just around me, and those victims were afraid to ask for help for fear they would be regarded as a coward. In 2016, I gave a talk in my middle school and carried out research about school bullying and cyber violence, trying to help those who were vulnerable. Sadly, it seemed useless because no one cares. This time, although I might fail again, I would like to have another try to make a difference, to provide my support, to lead a confident life for every teenager.

My passion is to observe, investigate, and analyze social dynamics, international relationships, and cultural development based on the economic perspective. In the past years, I have done several research projects regarding Belt and Road Initiative, which will be published soon. Focusing on the combination of economics and social studies gives me a taste of a multi-disciplinary approach in delving into novelties. In addition, I explore natural sciences to supplement concepts in the social sciences field. Equipped with biological and chemical knowledge, I also attempt to blend cutting-edge biotechnology into the study of the modern world. Being a young leader, I demonstrate my benevolent aspect in organizing acupuncture meetings in the neighborhood and spreading this idea to old people’s home.

Different from the normal students who have an education experience tightly following the Chinese education system, I have a much more complicated one. As a student who has switched between 3 junior high schools and skipped one year over, I have the opportunity to associate with a great number of people and enjoy varies education systems. The time I waste within these three schools by hanging out and trying to fit in the cool kids taught me one thing— life is fair to everybody; therefore we all deserve what we deserve. Studies are like loans to us, we can either choose to pay it back right now with less effort and time, or delay it which makes the interest rate even higher, causing you repay it with your bright future and happiness. We all deserve better life and greater happiness; correspondingly, do not fool yourself with makeup and preventing your future from locking itself up.
