To inspire support and empowerment of Uganda’s women, the U.S. Mission in partnership with UMYDF proposes to host a TEDx Naguru event focusing on women’s entrepreneurship, education, and anti-GBV initiatives. The TEDx event will be designed to increase awareness around the issues women face, and empower both men and women to take action in addressing those challenges.
Creating spaces where successful and inspiring stories against GBV can be widely shared is one way of raising awareness on the problem and its effects on individual progress and the country’s development. The proposed TEDx event offers such a space and will bring the most successful anti- GBV crusaders in Uganda to share their work and inspire many others both men and women to take action in their communities, families and places of work.
The event will attract both offline and online audiences as speakers presentations will be streamed live. Feedback and comments on the presentations will be highlighted throughout the event. It will also include performances by selected artists around the theme of GBV.
The TEDx event will be organized by the US Mission Kampala in partnership with the Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum
