Theme: Plasticity: Shaping New Thinking

We are a team of 12 volunteers passionate about TED’s mission: “spreading world-changing ideas”. As organizers we want to bring that mission to Nova community. We aim to encourage and stimulate our community, to expand their horizons, to get to know new ideas, especially through a TEDx conference rich in content, diversity and authenticity. We want to challenge minds and limits of knowledge, in order to encourage an unique learning experience based on fostering a critical spirit, open to the possibility of being inspired and amazed by new ways of thinking, seeing and understanding the world.

Ana Junça Silva

Psychologist PhD in Human Resources Management

PhD in Human Resources Management at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Ana has researched about the dynamic of micro-daily events at work: daily hassles and uplifts, and the main consequences for workers’ health, quality of life and performance. Her research has received diverse scientific awards due to her publications in top international journals. Currently, Ana is a Professor at ISCTE-IUL and Instituto Politécnico de Tomar. She is also member of the Applied Psychology Research Center - Capabilities and Inclusion (ISPA).

Fábio Vitó (NTS)

Rapper

Fábio Vitó (NTS), conheceu o poder da rima aos 13 anos vencendo várias batalhas de freestyle, sendo que é com “poesia violenta” que abraça com as palavras diversas causas sociais. Empreendedor por natureza, reúne as mais certeiras “skills” e capacidades de improviso que o destaca no panorama musical nacional. É com o coletivo recarga que NTS grava o seu primeiro single “Liberdade” que o catapulta indubitavelmente para as luzes dos grandes palcos. Em 2015 lança o álbum #NOVOSTEMPOS, resultado da evolução de NTS, diminutivo de “Não Tem Significado” onde vários estilos musicais se fundem em harmonia. O poder da palavra é a arma secreta deste disco que apresenta, de forma direta, o olhar do artista pelo mundo que o rodeia. Em 2018 chegou à etapa final do programa Got Talent Portugal. A capacidade impressionante de improviso em palco não deixou ninguém indiferente.

GUERBEROFF Grupo de Teatro Jovem

GUERBEROFF é um Grupo de Teatro, alunos das Aulas de Interpretação coordenadas pelo encenador Claudio Hochman. O Grupo, com sete anos de existência, já criou peças originais e interpretou textos de Tennesse Williams, Goldoni, Durrenmatt e Shakespeare. Desde o ano passado fizeram as seguintes performances: Hábitus Lentus no MAAT sobre a obra de arte total de Ana Pérez-Quiroga. Quadrus Vivus no Museu de Arte Contemporánea, Chiado, sobre obras de Helena Almeida, Lourdes Castro, René Bertholo, Antonio Sena, Joaquim Rodrigo e José Pedro Croft. Vous Rasantis na Galeria Trema-Arte sobre a exposição Lições de Voo de João,Vaz de Carvalho. Espelhus suhleps. E na exposição O Outro lado do Espelho no Museu Gulbenkian De Generus no Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporâneo Ligadus na Coleção Moderna do Museu Gulbenkian Re-sumo na Sala Polivalente do Museu Gulbenkian com a participação de Rodrigo Leão Escalerus nas escadas do MAAT Retratus no Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga

Marta Ferraz

Lead Scientist at the Human Robot Interaction Lab of European Space Agency

Marta Ferraz is a futurist scientist, who many scholars regard as a polymath due to her contributions to a variety of scientific fields and unconventional interpretations of reality. Marta is currently lead scientist at the Human Robot Interaction lab of European Space Agency. Her main areas of interest include, Evolutionary Developmental Biology, Space Life Sciences, Neuroscience, Robotics and Metaphysics. Marta describes herself as a fluid and metamorphic substance, in a universe in constant mutation, endowed with a strange ability to question, “who am I”. She is currently running perception studies in astronauts on board the International Space Station.

Nelson Marques

Nelson Marques nasceu em Espinho, a 7 de agosto de 1979. É jornalista da revista do "Expresso" .Colaborou com inúmeras publicações nacionais e estrangeiras, incluindo "Visão", "Sábado", "Volta ao Mundo", "The Guardian", "El Mundo" (Espanha), revistas "Época" e "Galileu" (Brasil) e "The Jerusalem Post" (Israel). Já entrevistou Al Gore duas vezes e outros vencedores de prémios Nobel, de Oscars, Grammys, Emmys e Pulitzers. Embaixadores, comendadores, empreendedores. Vencedores da Bola de Ouro da FIFA. ‘Anjos’ da Victoria’s Secret. Mas é com os testemunhos de gente simples que se comove sempre. Encara o jornalismo como um vício: depois da euforia de uma reportagem vem a ressaca, a necessidade visceral de uma nova história. O seu trabalho foi reconhecido com distinções do Clube Português de Imprensa, da Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro, do European Best Cancer Reporter Award e da Associação Nacional dos Municípios Portugueses, entre outros. “Filhos da Quimio” é o seu primeiro livro.

Nuno Loureiro

PhD Student - International Neuroscience Doctoral Programme and Co-Founder of Mindreach Organization

Mindreach is committed to bring a Brain Machine Interface controller that allows users to interact with the real and virtual worlds using only brain signals. The organization started out as a project at the Champalimaud Foundation, having passed by several phases of animal models and human research. Mindreach offers and end-to-end product that uses electroencephalography (EEG) headset coupled with a dedicated training software platform allowing users to learn to direct control activity in pre-frontal cortex, and as a first approach correct abnormal brain patterns, as is the case of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other conditions. It is also possible to integrate the work developed in this area with a wide range of on-the-market effector devices, like neuro-prosthetics, neurorehabilitation equipment and other controllers.

Susana Novais Santos

Neuroscientist, Minfulness Instructor, Ultramarathoner swimmer and runner

Susana Novais Santos obtained an MSc in Engineering and Physical Science in Medicine at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London (2000), and a PhD in Neuroengineering at the University of Pennsylvania (Ivy League), Philadelphia (2007). Moving to Asia at the young age of 16 totally changed her life. Falling in love with the culture, Susana started practicing meditation, tai chi, chi kung and yoga. She learnt everything she could about Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, and absorbed the Eastern philosophy and way of life. Susana is a certified Mindfulness instructor by the University of California at San Diego (2016). Susana is also a humanitarian athlete. An ultramarathon swimmer and runner, she is the only Portuguese woman who has swum from Berlengas Islands to Peniche (16 km), as well as from Cíes Islands to Baiona (15 km), in Spain. She embraces self-transcending sports challenges for humanitarian reasons.
