Women the world over are no longer accepting the status quo.

They’re rising up, breaking out and pushing boundaries.
Whatever their focus and talent – business, technology, art, science, politics – these pioneers and their allies are joining forces in an explosion of discovery and ingenuity to drive real, meaningful change.

TEDxWomen will celebrate how these dynamic and diverse people are showing up to face challenges head on, all while empowering each other to shape the future we all want to see. We’re showing up for TEDxDongdaemunWomen. Are you?

TEDWomen brings together a global community of people interested in exploring how change begins: with innovative thinkers who catalyze ideas toward action. Over the past few years, TEDWomen and TEDxWomen have launched some powerful ideas into the world.

Enkhrel Enkhtsetseg

[Nationality: Mongolia] Born during the democratic transition period of Mongolia, Enkhrel grew up hearing countless stories of good and bad “old socialist times” from a young age and developed keen interest in the field of politics, international relations and geopolitics in the hope one day she would tell Mongolia’s unique story. This curiosity along with her love of storytelling led her to be an international news editor at Mongolian state-led television, covering various stories from around the world. Now she is living in Korea where she met her new, more individualistic self while exploring new fields and writing articles on the topics of geopolitics, ICT and international relations.

Eunhee Park

Special Ambassador, TNKR
[Nationality: North Korean] Eunhee is a delightful young lady who was born and raised in North Korea. She is now a college student in South Korea, a popular public speaker in both Korean and English, and a Special Ambassador for Teach North Korean Refugees (TNKR). She didn’t grow up with such a happy demeanor though, as it took tremendous inner strength and determination to overcome her environment of living in a broken household with an abusive, mentally ill mother. Coupled with a regime that punished women for wearing earrings and having long hair, it was a mighty task. Determined not to be defined by the social and cultural forces of the North Korean society and regime, she forced herself to put on a smile and look on the bright side of life. After the death of her mother, Eunheeset off on the journey of her life in search of freedom. The freedom to wear earrings, dye her hair, and wear hot pants to her heart’s content.

She usually makes a living as a language teacher. She also likes to call herself a dancer and a poet, although none of them she does professionally. She hopes to build an educational community someday that is open to both children and adults, and let them feel the magic of the artistic and creative side of education, whether that be through learning languages, dance, physical exercise, writing, or philosophical discussion.

Jiyoung Park

Interpreter&Translater, book writer
[Nationality: South Korea] Jiyoung Park is an interpreter, translator, and author from South Korea who encourages readers, especially women, to follow their hopes and dreams. She has observed that many women withdraw from society after professional or personal failures. This has been a rising trend in her native country in South Korea, where failure is not forgiven and women have the highest suicide rate in the world compared to women globally. She doesn’t just talk about this in theory or based on media reports. She knows from personal experience about women living secluded lives after suffering from her own experiences. After going through her own difficult and challenging time, avoiding contacting friends and family, she began listening to her inner voice, to find and follow her dreams. She encourages women to overcome challenges to find their version of happiness in this world.
