As part of our new series of #TEDxCoventGardenSalon events we cannot wait for the first one up with our very own TEDxCoventGardenWomen previous speaker, the wonderful Michelle Elman on 4th Sep.
Michelle, a leading part of the body positive movement, is not only a bestselling author, but also a five-board accredited body confidence coach and an award-winning body positive activist. She has appeared on Sky News, BBC Radio London, BBC Radio 5 Live, LBC; and has featured in over a hundred press articles worldwide. Michelle’s TEDx talk ‘Have you hated your body enough today?’ has been viewed more than 34,000 times!
In her deeply inspiring book 'Am I Ugly' the narrative follows Michelle’s journey from illness to health, and from childhood to adulthood as she deals with her body-confidence issues following long stays in hospital and fifteen complex surgeries, learning how to embrace both her scars and her body – helping others to do the same.
In todays's complex society where body confidence can often be challenging in the face of pressures for ultimate 'perfection', Michelle's message has been powerful in liberating people from these unrealistic standards and recognising that all bodies are equally valuable! #bodyacceptance
