In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Paralympic Swimmer

Mohammad Shams Aalam Sheikh is the first Para-Swimmer from Bihar to represent India at the Para-Asian Games, Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018. Shams, a Black Belt with 50+ medals, was diagnosed with Spinal Cord Tumour in 2010, which left him paralyzed from the chest down. After unsuccessful surgeries, he took to Paralympic swimming and in December 2016, won 4 gold medals and the title of "Best Swimmer" in a championship held in Indore. He holds the World Record in the Limca Book for longest open sea swimming by a paraplegic, swimming 8 Km in 4 hours 4 minutes in Goa.
