x = independently organized TED event

This event occurred on

Grenå, Midtjylland

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Baiquan Zhang

As a Chinese teenager, my life has always been accompanied by studying and planning my future. Working hard has not only been my life routine, but also a habit and I do enjoy the feeling of being fully occupied. However, as I came to Denmark, things changed. Amount of free time has drastically increased, and it has become a serious problem to deal as. I discovered I did not know how to spend my free time and I have lost my work ethic! So, with this TEDx opportunity, I’d just like to share this feeling and how I think and tackle this problem.

Emmanuel Trier

My name is Emmanuel Trier, I am 19 years old and grew up in Switzerland. My hobbies are sports, playing the piano and acting. The reason why I wanted to talk about persistence, was because I noticed that many people around me with special gifts gave up on what they did due to their experience with hardship which is truly a tragedy. I basically just hoped to motivate others to be persistent and consistent, which I hope has worked.

Gabriel Valdsgaard

Gabriel is a 24-year-old student in Denmark, finishing his last year of the Danish gymnasium education. For Gabriel, many things that are often deemed simple or easy to do, become a challenge due to sickness that has made him lose his ability to see. He did not speak up about his disability in search of attention, but rather because he wished to dispel some of the common misconceptions, spread awareness about the disease, and to also make people more aware of the fact that people with disabilities should still be treated as humans.

Kristina Galicova

Kristína Galicová is a young, sympathetic student from Slovakia who at a young age decided to open her doors to the world and enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program at a high school in Denmark. There she found her passion in economics and psychology, aspiring to become a young leader on an international scale.

Mads Roesgaard

Mads is an 18-year-old IB student from Denmark, with no particular interests outside of videogames and reading. One of the reasons Mads chose to do TEDx was due to the anger he had felt after watching the Netflix series “13 reasons why”. He believes it was a poorly done portrayal of everything, and as he himself has struggled with these issues, he wished to tackle some of the things that “13 reasons why” did wrong, while also extending a hand to those who may be facing similar situations and feel they have no one to talk to.

Shubh Bhatia

Shubh Bhatia is a 16-year-old Indian swimmer, MUNer, debater and public speaker. During his short life, he has already won several gold medals at the national and regional levels and even made it into the Indian book of records as the youngest person to swim between Alcatraz and San Francisco. Currently, he is about to finish his last year of secondary education.
