Theme: Incite. Insight.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

With a combination of pre-recorded TEDTalks video and live speakers, each an expert within their respective fields, we, the Organising Committee of TEDxRamaiahMedicalCollege extend a warm invitation to interested individuals as we explore the theme of "Incite. Insight." and celebrate the unlimited potentials of the human spirit.

The story of a child found away from home and family is seldom heard of. However, these children have a story to tell that must go unheard, because, as Fredrick Douglass said, "It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men." Mr. Pramod Kulkarni- a postgraduate from IIM Ahmedabad and founder of 'Sathi'- an NGO working towards reuniting these children with their families. 70,000 children rescued and rehabilitated since its inception in 1998, this NGO received the prestigious National Child Welfare Award from the Government of India in 2014.

Rohan D'souza

Having graduated from a prestigious medical college and having the alluring life of a clinician ahead of him, Dr. Rohan D'souza dared to take some time off and then pave a way that is far from conventional. Being a doctor, a co-author, a blogger, an avid traveler, a medical adviser, a medical device innovator - this speaker has a treasure trove of experiences which can instigate in all of us the urge to take a step away from the traditional path and explore the multitude of opportunities that awaits us.

Sandhya Mendonca

Sandhya Mendonca is an author, publisher and cultural evangelist. She is the Founder, MD and Chief Editor of Bengaluru-based transmedia company. Raintree Media and is a partner of the Global Village World network that publishes books in over 50 countries. She actively promotes the arts with uniquely curated events such as Under The Raintree, India's first multi-arts festival curated and performed entirely by women. Her choice of subject matters as a writer is eclectic, and her latest book, "Disrupt and Conquer- how TTK Prestige became a billion dollar company" has just been published by Penguin.

Vijay Chandru

Professor at Indian Institute of Science

A Fellow of the Indian Academies of Science and Engineering, Dr. Vijay Chandru is an INAE Distinguished Technologist in the Division of Interdisciplinary Research, at the Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore. Dr. Chandru founded Stand Life Sciences, which is now the market leader in genomics and precision medicine with 15 laboratories across India. He is a member of Karnataka's vision groups for Biotechnology and S&T and an honorary directer of the Centre for Health Ecologies and Technology a non-profit that works for health advocacy.
