He has also authored a book titled, ”The Bad Boys of Bokaro Jail” published by Penguin in 2014, but his writing career was not a bed of roses, it had a painful start. He has lived for many years in the US, where he also earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. He has founded ‘The Himalayan Writing Retreat’ that offers deep inspiration and learning to writers at all levels.

Jyotsna ji is a Bharatanatyam exponent of repute, who is deeply committed to propagating classical art and making it accessible to a greater number of people. In a world today, where we see a decline in the traditional arts, we need more people like her, with commitment and vision to give classical dance an added impetus. She has learnt from the illustrious gurus of the Sri Raja Rajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir, Mumbai and has performed extensively in India and abroad. In 1990, she established her dance Institution in Delhi, ‘The Jyotsna Shourie Dance Society’, where her disciples have received accolades for their expertise in Bharatanatyam.
