Theme: The Voice of the Youth

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Baisakhi Saha

Baisakhi Saha was born in Kolkata and she grew up different states of India. A globetrotter, at the tender age of 17, she left India having won a full scholarship to study abroad in Singapore. Since then she has not just travelled, but lived in different continents; from Asia to Europe to Africa to North, South and Central America, she has traversed the globe on various student exchange programs, studying life through diverse mirrors of reality. Multilingual, she speaks six languages. During her recent India trip, she penned down two new books; one of them titled, "Life is Abracadabra" recounts 21 magical stories from her travels across the globe. So far she penned three books and an inspirational journal, two of which are in the process of publishing.

Cecilia Obon

Cecilia is the oldest of three siblings. She is 10 years old and is thrilled about being part of the TEDxYouth@BSCR. She loves to surf, play the piano and being outdoors. But her main interests have always been reading and learning exciting things. She has always had a talent for speaking in public and is grateful for this opportunity.

My name is Estela Guerra Jimenez, I am 14 years old. Humanities is my passion, I have always taken great interest in human behaviour and expression as well as helping others reach their full potential. It is because of this interest and the desire to make a change that I try to get involved in talks, debates and other activities of this nature.

Gloriana Oconitrillo

Gloriana Oconitrillo Jiménez, costarricense según su cedula, pero africana según su corazón. Es comunicadora de profesión y se desenvuelve en ese ámbito desde hace 5 años. En 2014 inició el proyecto social AfriTica, una propuesta de "solidaridad sin fronteras", en la que relaciona su amor por África y por el voluntatiado para lograr ser un canal de impulso y esperanza que conecte personas de Costa Rica y África por una sola.

Laura Winberg

Laura Rose Winberg is a 32-year-old geography teacher from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She's been teaching abroad since 2011 and has taught in several regions of England as well as in Shanghai, China. She likes cooking, snorkelling, visiting Disney parks and is a passionate advocate for intersectional feminism and body positivity.

Lewis Mills

He estado aprendiendo espanñol desde los 6 años pero todavia no manejo el idioma a su totalidad. Pasé por los altibajos de aprender un segundo idioma en un país diferente a donde naci en el Reino Unido. Como objetivos quiero hacer conciencia sobre el aprendizaje de aprender un segundo idioma y los beneficios y desventajas que este tiene.

Mariana Chartier

Mariana is a 9-year-old girl that has always been enthusiastic for school and passionate about defending her ideas. Since little, she thought that everyone deserves to be treated the same. Now she is looking forward to spreading her ideas as much as possible. TEDxYouth@BSCR is providing her with that opportunity.

Sebastián Gillem

Costa Rican singer and songwriter. Sebas is known for his innovative way of presenting his music through social media. He has had two hit songs hit number 1 of the top 50 viral charts on Spotify. Characterised for singing his music in English, with powerful and positive messages to the world.

Ximena Songg

Me llamo Ximena Songg, tengo 16 años y estoy en mis últimos años de coelgio. Me considero una persona feliz, energética y que ve la vida de manera positiva. Los estándares de la sociedad siempre han sido una tema que me llama muchísima la atención para discutirlo. Formar parte de este TEDx y participar en los talleres han sido una experiencia única que me ha ayudado a formentar el crecimiento personal, adquirir nuevas habilidades y aprender acerca de nuevos temas así como las distintas perspectivas.
