In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Eric Hegmann

Eric Hegmann is a couple’s counselor, member of the Parship-Expert Team and Editor-in-chief of beziehungsweise-magazin.de. His passion is to motivate and inspire people to find and sustain love. After training as a journalist, he worked in several positions as editor for magazines, websites, and radio and TV shows. For more than 15 years he has been working as a couple’s counselor and single-coach. During this time, he published more than a dozen books on relationship and dating. He is also a regular guest expert on Sat1 Frühstücksfernsehen and various radio shows and one of the most-quoted experts on relationships and dating for on- and offline media in Germany. His work on relationships and dating is centered around the rules of attachment and the attachment theory. At TEDxHHL, Eric Hegmann will speak about the power of attraction in an interpersonal context and about how online dating and social media have changed the experience of dating.

Florian Schröder

Cabarettist

For 16 years, Florian Schroeder’s home has been the stage. As cabaretist, moderator, author, and comedian, he is a real entertainment all-rounder. His passion for politics, society and human psychology has turned him into a sharp observer challenging his audience with provocative and self-reflecting questions. Florian was born in 1979 and studied philosophy and German literature at the University of Freiburg. Already during his studies, he discovered his talent for comedy and started a career as satirist, comedian, and parodist while still a student. Later, he hosted shows on radio and TV as well. Florian is always relevant. He analyzes, assesses, and questions. His trademark is the meticulous observation of the political and social scene. Florian moves his audience, he enriches and provokes reflection. Like no one else, he combines a comedian’s incisive power of critical observation with the sharp analytical focus of a philosopher.

Jane Whyatt

Activist for Free Speech and Media Freedom

Jane Whyatt is a multi-platform journalist with good European language skills and a strong track record in reporting on diverse communities, She lives and works in Germany and frequently travels across Europe to defend journalists under threat from hate speech, mafia death threats or state surveillance in her role at the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom. She is researching the ethics of Artificial Intelligence in journalism and news production.

Jannike Stoehr

Job Tester

On the way to hear dream job, Jannike tested 30 different jobs and left her secure position as an HR professional in a German corporation. Why? To all intents and purposes, everything went smooth. All the same she had the feeling that life was rushing by like sitting in a train. You stare out the window absentmindedly, with the countryside passing by, and suddenly you are at the final stop without having noticed. This time she wanted to turn the process around and test the jobs before deciding for a retraining. Finally, she tested 30 jobs for a week each in one year. Knowing that she wouldn’t grasp it in its full depth within that timeframe she went for her gut feeling. During her time, she learned to let go and to trust her intuition. And that very intuition told her to become self-employed. She founded a consultancy for reorientation and helps other people in finding what they really desire, combining it with application training.

Nicola Graef

As a journalist, film director, and producer, Nicola Graef's fascination about the world has helped her to realize her passion for "making the invisible visible". Nicola studied German literature, philosophy, and theatre history in Munich and later in London. After finishing her studies, she started working as a freelancer for the German TV channel ZDF and the German radio channel NDR. She continued her career as an editor for the NDR and later co-founded the production company Lona Media and opened the artspace plan b, a platform for young artists in Hamburg. In 2016, Nicola’s documentary Neo Rauch – Gefährten und Begleiter aired in Leipzig. At TEDxHHL, Nicola Greaf will speak about how to find your way in life, manage to push through to what you really want, and what influences you might encounter on the way there. Additionally, she will illuminate the role of young women in a business still dominated by men.

Paula Schwarz

Entrepreneur

Paula Schwarz is a social entrepreneur with a background in Technology, Political Sciences and Finance. She founded the think tank “Startupboat” and spent 2.5 years at the border between Greece and Turkey to reorganise and digitize refugee camps. In 2016 the Forbes Magazine listed her under the 30 social entrepreneurs under 30 in Europe. She won the Venture Bus in Africa and worked for the fund of Philipp Schindler. In 2017 Paula created the World Datanomic Forum to organise resources based on data and their highest necessity and usefulness around the world.

Timo Meynhardt

Professor for Psychology and Leadership

Timo Meynhardt, born 1972 in Rudolstadt, is a German psychologist and business economist. He is the managing director of the Center for Leadership and Values in Society at the University of St. Gallen. From 2013 to 2015 he held the chair of management at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. Since October 2015, Timo Meynhardt holds the Dr. Arend Oetker chair for business psychology and leadership at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. Meynhardt co-developed the Leipzig Leadership Model which aims to provide a purpose-oriented framework for leadership. It basically shifts the grounds by arguing that good leadership is primarily about a contribution towards the greater good. In his work, an organization’s societal wealth creation is captured conceptually and examined empirically as a contribution to the common good (public value). Meynhardt attempts to answer the question regarding public value of businesses, public authorities, and non-governmental organizations.

Wallis Giunta

Irish-Canadian mezzo, Wallis Giunta, has been named “Young Singer of the Year” in the 2018 International Opera Awards, and was named both “Young Artist of the Year” by The Arts Desk and “Breakthrough Artist in UK Opera” in the What’s On Stage Opera Awards for her work in 2017. The upcoming 2018/19 season includes her debuts with the BBC Proms Festival in a program celebrating Leonard Bernstein, with the Grange Festival at The Barbican, London. She also debuts the title roles in Carmen and Der Rosenkavalier, along with Rossini’s Rosina for Oper Leipzig, and Idamante for Toronto’s Opera Atelier.
