Theme: Seize the Silence

Our world is too complex for every thing to be part of the mainstream public discussion. Every development has countless facets, too multitudinous for all of society to recognize them. Analyzing these topics that are too often in the “silence” can broaden perspectives, encouraging us to cultivate a focus not just on the most prominent ideas, but also one on their nuances and ideas spoken of less.

Abigail Bancks

Student

Abigail is a senior at Suffern High School. She is passionate about food redistribution and environmental protection and loves to hike, cook for her friends, and build robots. She plans to major in computer science and continue fighting hunger at MIT this fall.

Annelyse Benn

Annelyse is a Suffern Central student who has participated in a wide range of activities throughout her high school career. Her strong moral values originate from her family ties that make her truly passionate on social justice issues. She also has participated on the Suffern HIgh School Track & Field team since 7th grade, becoming a fundamental part of the team.

Darwin is an aspiring engineer and computer scientist. He is also an avid player of videogames and loves to explore new hobbies.

Harry Ducrepin

Harry is a sophomore at Suffern High School and is very passionate about social justice and how it corresponds with the law. He is a determined student who strives to broaden his experiences through his extracurricular activities such as Winter and Spring track, DECA, and his local Young Life group.

Kylie Grosmark

Kylie is a senior at Suffern High School and president of Philosophy Club, and has loved public speaking since she was young. She hopes to continue speaking and sharing ideas at Hunter College in the fall.

Stephan Ducrepin

Stephan has always held a fascination for understanding the world around him. In school this manifests in him leading the club Students United for Black Awareness, where he can analyze and discuss systems of social oppression, and in a fervent passion for sciences such as psychology and physics.
