'Generation Z’ is the focal theme of TEDx SBSC. Gen Z is the demographic cohort following the ‘Millennials’, which, in much simpler terms means those born after the mid-90s. This generation is the most evolved form of humans ever, and what makes them stand out from the previous generations is their early exposure to the internet. With them living in a world of constant upgrades, their attention spans are short. Although this makes them less focused, it makes them more efficient too. In this ever developing world, their mind-set is more creative which thinks entrepreneurially, and this is why Gen Z needs our immediate attention.

Nabila Jamshed

Public Policy, Disarmament, Humanitarian Affairs

Nabila Jamshed is an international security, public policy and global governance professional currently working with the United Nations. With a Master’s degree in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford, Nabila joined the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons during the organization’s work on chemical disarmament in Syria, for which it was later awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. While with the UN, she co-authored the UN Environment Programme and UNU’s Inclusive Wealth Report for 2014. She specializes in the UN’s work on preventing conflicts, crisis response, and outlawing weapons of mass destruction.

Br Steve Rocha is a child rights advocate who has been engaged in this field since 1990. He is the Founder Director of PRATYeK, an organisation that visions every child being trained to advocate for every right for everyone. He is also the National Convener and founder of the 'NINE IS MINE' campaign, an initiative of, for and by the children to advocate for appropriate public investment in children. Steve is the Asia level Advocacy Coordinator for Edmund Rice International based in Geneva. He has facilitated child-led interactions with policy makers and leaders at at village, state, national and international levels including the United Nations in Geneva and New York.
