The paradox of progress.
Centuries ago Greek philosophers claimed that blessings of civilization and progress didn’t lead a person to happiness, but vice versa plunged into dependency, made them miserable.
What does our generation think? Where does it all lead to? All the endless improvements and series of discoveries, which have already become the 21st century religion? We are wandering, risking hitting the wall. Every day so many services are created to «simplify» or «make easier»! Where do that constant fatigue, difficulty and rush come from? You must run like hell just to stay where you are. That has been the norm for some time now.
Is our generation civil enough to be miserable?
We set the task for ourselves to examine this paradox from different perspectives and we’ll try not to complicate interpretations, but to simplify them. We’re inviting you to join us in exploring the PRESENT. To tell the truth we’ll have to address both past and future as well. For better understanding of ourselves. Here and now.
Non-rhetorical questions:
o Where are we rushing: to the better future or to the abyss?
o What motivates those who are outriders of the progress? What pushes them except for insatiable curiosity?
o Who is that playwright who made the idea of the endless development central in our personal stories as well?
o Is there the limit of the civilisation difficulty?
o Do we actually have a choice or we just pretend that we do?
o Where is that balance of contradictions, where this crazy machine of our Universe can exist?
o Which path should we choose every day?
How passionate we are playing with words…
For us TED is not just a popular format of unforgettable performances. It is a territory of senses. We’re inviting you to join us in exploring of this amazing space of contradictions and to explore yourselves in this space. We will be able to look at everyday things, to see how macro processes shape our reality. Every day. Even today.
We are entering the future but we’re not prepared for everything.
