In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Best described as an art collective, the former Savile Row designer (Sam) & media artist (Shaka) share a distinct point of view spanning Content and digital Creation, Art Direction, Photography & Fashion art Installations. The duo’s formal projects have included collaborations with brands like PONY and styling assignments for Ozwald Boateng, Kanye West, Yasin Bey as well as limited edition capsules presented at Harvey Nichols and United Arrows.

Carlene Firmin

Dr Carlene Firmin MBE has spent over a decade championing the needs of young people affected by violence and abuse – attempting to reshape policies and practices intended to keep them safe. She spent three years interviewing girls and young women around England affected by gang violence – work that changes Government policy on youth violence and led to the funding of specialist services for gang-associated young women in 2011. Since then Carlene’s work has broadened to look at issues such as sexual and criminal exploitation, abuse in teenage relationships and sexual harassment in schools, and resulted in her calling for fundamental reforms to the way that child protection systems have been designed in the UK.

Lord Victor Adebowale CBE

Victor is the CEO of Turning Point, a social enterprise providing health and social care interventions to approximately 83,000 people on an annual basis. He is a non-Executive Director of the Co-Operative Group, Collaborate CIC, IOCOM and Leadership in Mind. He was awarded a CBE for services to the unemployed and homeless people, and became a crossbench peer in 2001.

Neequaye Dreph Dsane

Neequaye Dreph Dsane, a versatile visual artist and a stalwart of the street based painting scene, working across a wide range of media is best known for his large-scale murals and oil paintings. His portraits and their accompanying backstories present an alternative narrative, a tribute to living unsung heroes and heroines. His works are arresting and beautifully drafted, with an honesty and depth of emotion that bring his subjects to life.

Nick Hartwright

Nick Hartwright is one of London's leading social entrepreneurs. He is a huge supporter of the arts and culture- based projects, and wants to make them accessible to all. He is involved in a number of exciting regeneration projects in the capital that are ultimately making people's lives and communities better.

Roella Oloro Quintet

Roella Oloro is a British composer and multi-instrumentalist of Nigerian and Jamaican descent. Her early musical home was in the Pentecostal Church playing piano in regional gospel choirs around south west England, teaching her to play piano by ear alongside her classical training in piano, clarinet, alto saxophone and bass guitar. She became inspired by jazz in her early teens after hearing the virtuosic brilliance of Oscar Peterson.

Ruth Moulton

Ruth Moulton is a software engineer (from punch cards to android apps) specialising in computer communications, a specialist in adult maths education, a weaver, a photographer, a mother, a grandmother and a life long activist - anti capitalist, anti arms, anti immigration detention and deportation and for human rights. Her main areas of work at present are campaigning for housing rights with St Ann's Redevelopment Trust, and working with Green and Black Cross to provide legal support to activists.

Sarah Aluko

Sarah Aluko is a Nigerian-British Author and Poet. Her poetry speaks of womanhood, being black, love and loss. In 2017, Sarah Aluko released her debut anthology, Firstborn, on International Women’s Day. Since then Sarah has been commissioned to write for technology giants Microsoft and Nasty Women. Sarah has since been long-listed for the Outspoken Poetry Prize for two years in a row and was listed as part of Nasty Boy’s Creative Class of 2018.

Torange Khonsari

Torange Khonsari is a partner at Public Works. Public Works is a London based collective engaged in critical art and design within the city. Public Works’ projects are interested in what constitutes civic in the city and how to re-design structures, spaces and systems that foster equality in cities. The collective engages with numerous cultural, social and political disciplines to re-work the city’s opportunities towards citizen driven development.
