In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Blaine was born in Buffalo, New York on April 26th, 2002. He spent most of his life in Atlanta, Georgia but has recently moved to Portugal. In Portugal, he developed a love for eastern philosophy and spent most of his time listening to lectures and reading up on related concepts. He also enjoys spending his time playing on my school's softball team, volunteering at a local dog shelter, and being with friends.

Matilde Antunes is an 18-year-old ambitious student and aspiring lawyer from the small but beautiful country, Portugal. She is an avid reader, writer, and public-speaker. She is driven to defend those she believes in, and ideas she is passionate about. She truly believes in the power of sharing personal wounds and experiences as a means to support and offer solace to those who are suffering and to encourage empathy in others. She hopes that through advocacy, awareness can be spread to minimize the stigma associated with mental illness.
