Anna Margaret Clyburn
Student
Anna Margaret Clyburn is a freshman studying political science, history, and language at Rice University. She traveled with her best friend over the summer, learning important lessons not only about women’s empowerment, but also about the intricacies of public transportation and finding vegan food in unlikely places. She is an optimist who hopes to shape public policy one day, but for now enjoys working as a Student Association Senator and as a Peta2 campus representative.
Arija Forsyth
Student
Arija Forsyth is a freshman at Rice aspiring to major in intellectual history. When she was seventeen she developed Anorexia Nerviosa, and in recovery, became invested in bettering her own mental health and educating her community. Arija is a certified dialogue facilitator and has broad experience in fostering community discussions on race, gender, mental health, and other controversial issues. She is active in intersectionalist feminist circles and passionate about peacemaking at home and abroad.
Camille Pierre-Louis
Student
Camille studies International Relations at Rice University and is originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL. She is a polyglot and plans to work as a United States Ambassador in the future. In her free time, Camille enjoys running, writing poetry, and spending time on the beach.
Juhi Bhatnagar
Student
Juhi Bhatnagar is a Master of Computer Science student at Rice University. She graduated with honors from IIIT-Delhi with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering. She was awarded the gold medal for all-round performance in her major. She is also the recipient of the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship in
2016. As part of her research at CHIL, the Computer-Human Interaction Lab at Rice, she is enhancing the design of electronic voting ballots using eye tracking software. When she is not glued to the computer screen, Juhi can be found fangirling about anime.
Lavina Kalwani
Student
Lavina Kalwani is a slam poetry enthusiast, a well-versed traveler, and an adult in the making. A freshman at Rice University, Lavina intends on majoring in Chemistry, Cognitive Science, and she’s convinced she can fit a study abroad in there too. A proponent of exploring interests across all subjects, Lavina is involved in Civic Duty Rice, Partnership for the Advancement and Immersion for Refugees, and does research in an inorganic chemistry lab. In her free time, she enjoys writing, kickboxing, and playing guitar. She’d like to thank her mom, dad, and sister for encouraging her to pursue her passions, and her friends for theirkindness and support.
