Theme: Stories Shaping the World

TEDxNSIT is back with its 6th edition, featuring a wide array of change makers from diverse fields. We're delighted to inform you that this year’s theme is “Stories Shaping the World”, which is all about the butterfly effect that one’s actions carry. Through this year’s theme, we aim for everyone to connect to the past experiences that have ushered in a change in their attitude towards life and everyone and everything that they have subsequently come across.

Believeing that experiences are all that make us who we are and have the power to inspire the lives of others, TEDxNSIT brings to you Speakes like Bhuvi Jain and Sharon Lowen who have inspired lives through their work, Vir Philip who has an inspiring story of getting over learning disablities to become the President of Rotary Club of Delhi, Vishesh Deep who has inspired people to lead happier and stress free lives through his talks, Major General Pramod Sehgal who has been inspiring the youth to make right career choices as a counsellor, Shubhrashtra Shikha who has touches lives and inspired women all across India through her words, Shrey Mishra who has inspired games all over the nation to pusue their love for making games to solve problems, Barkha Singh who has inspired budding actors to continue and improve in their trade and Akshay Chaturvedi who has inspired many young entreprenuers to build further.

With such inspiring speakers TEDxNSIT hopes to induce a positive change in the lives of everyone.

Akshay Chaturvedi

Akshay Chaturvedi is the CEO & Co-founder of Leverage Edu, India's fastest growing AI-first CareerTech/EdTech Company. He was selected as Prime Minister's Champion of Change. Akshay, an ISB alum, had received the Draper Fellowship in Silicon Valley. He has worked across startup ecosystems in Silicon Valley, New York, Bangalore & Delhi. He is widely recognized in India as one of the topmost influencers of the industry.

Barkha Singh

Actor

Barkha Singh, a popular television actress, was last seen playing the spunky Surbhi on &TV’s Bhagyalakshmi. Starting her career as a child actor, Barkha has starred in numerous television shows and has also been associated with big brands such as Cadbury, Coca Cola and Clinic Plus. She is also known for her cameos in movies such as Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Parineeta, Apna Asmaanand Samay: When Time Strikes and has made her presence felt in the industry since. As much as Barkha is beautiful, she is also extremely intelligent and has accomplished a lot academically. The actor holds a double masters and plans to do her PhD soon! She has gained prominence for hosting live quizzes on the Loco app, which has become incredibly popular in a quite short period.

Bhuvi Jain

Blogger (Quora mom)

Bhuvi Jain- an Engineer, doting wife and mother is often called Quoramom because of her connect with youngsters on social media. She is the most followed Indian woman on Quora with 135,000+ followers. She is an ardent blogger on varied topics like politics, life advice, parenting, Mathematics, language, humour and pets. She creates online courses in English & Mathematics for students and teaches underprivileged children. She is not your typical P3P but a woman of substance affecting numerous lives in her own small world of influence. A Takayasu’s Arteritis survivor (a serious debilitating disease affecting 1 out of 2 million Asian women), she attributes her wellness story to Homeopathy and is a strong advocate of the same.

Major General Pramod Saighal

Retired Army personnel

Maj Gen Pramod Saighal retired in 2002 as the Head of Army Air Defence College. Prior to that he trained officers of 38 Armies at Army War College Mhow. He has also trained cadets of The National Defence Academy and The Officer's Training Academy. He is a pilot and a deep sea diver and has flown extensively in the North-East and J&K. Post retirement he headed two NGOs in the field of education and disaster management and was involved with reconstruction of 400 schools and 10 hospitals in Andaman & Nicobar Islands after they were destroyed by the Tsunami. Alongside, he has been working for the Empowerment of our children and has counselled over a million children of schools, colleges and universities on issues of critical relevance to them. He was commended for the same by Late Dr. Abdul Kalam and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, besides several Chief Ministers and luminaries. He has also trained over a thousand students for Civil Services and has been bestowed with Guru Samman by Samkalp.

Sharon Lowen

Acclaimed Odissi Dancer

Sharon Lowen is a renowned artist of Odissi. She has bridged cultures performing on every continent as well as for TV and film. Sharon was featured as herself in the award winning Telegu film, Swarna Kamalam directed by K. Viswanath. She carries the Odissi tradition forward with over 25 choreographies and also as a visiting professor, scholar and presenter of seminars, exhibitions and other artists. Her guru,Padmavibhusan Kelucharan Mohapatra stated in 1987,“She is now one of best disciples who I can unhesitatingly recommend to represent the Odissi dance form anywhere in the world. Sharon has mastered the tradition". A Fulbright and American Institute of Indian Studies Smithsonian scholar with an M.A. in Dance from the University of Michigan, Sharon has contributed to improving the appreciation and understanding of Indian dance traditions, both here and abroad, with scholarly articles and hundreds of lecture-demonstrations and concerts at universities, schools, museums and art centres.

Shrey Mishra

Shubhrastha Shikha

Columnist/Author

An ingenious print/TV columnist and an author, Shubhrastha Shikha has been involved in the formulation of campaigns for various groups. An English Literature graduate from Miranda House, University of Delhi, Shubhrastha discovered her interest in Politics after a short stint as an intern with The Hindu and as a journalist with All India Radio. She later co-founded the Citizens for Accountable Governance, an institution that played an important role. Since then, Shubhrastha has been working with 'The Guardian' of London as a freelance journalist. Her opinions on the various nitty-grittys of politics in our country and her understanding of it's system are nothing short of a marvel.

Vir Philip

Philanthropist

Rotarian Vir Philip has been a very prominent youth mentor and was the District Rotaract Chair for the District 3011 for 2016 and 2017. Being diagnosed with a learning disability at a very young age, Phillip struggled at school but managed to soar through having not given up. He studied at a Boarding School in the US when his family moved back to India. The experience, he often says, helped him overcome his weaknesses and identify his strengths. Being very passionate about helping others, he joined the Rotaract Club of his school. He went to Lynn University Florida to study International Relations and become the Co-Founder and Chartered President of Rotaract Club there. In 2010, Vir joined the Commonwealth Games Accreditation Department. In 2015, he became the Club Secretary of Rotaract Club of New Delhi. He started his own company called JMDTurf. He is presently working on creating playgrounds that are water friendly and save water.

Visheshdeep Jhamb

With the correct combination of inner peace and outer dynamism, Vishesh has been inspiring people from all walks of life by his profound talks as a Life and Corporate coach. Vishesh at Schlumberger, was involved in offering consultancy on disaster management and optimization techniques to Oil Industries such as ONGC and Cairne, India. A freelance writer who believes in the freedom of expression of thought and speech. An entrepreneur at heart, he decided to bid an early adieu to the multi-giant oil company, to pursue his love for lawn tennis. Along with some like-minded tennis enthusiasts from the international tennis circuit, he facilitated TopSpin, a German Tennis Company, in setting up and expanding its base in India. Many companies such as Samsung, Ericsson, CSC, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Yatra.com and Tech Mahindra, have recognized his contribution in elevating the emotional quotient of their management and employee base through his humorous yet enriching seminars named LIFE.
