Theme: Milestone

TEDxXIE is an independently organized TED Event hosted by Xavier Institute of Engineering. The nature of this event is bestowed in the hands of highly motivated students of the college who are goal oriented. This year we decided to keep the theme 'Milestone'. WHY?
> Because its a significant moment in an individuals life. It's the beginning of a chapter towards achieving goals and dreams, a realization bookmarking one's stand in claiming the ultimato.

Pratheek Sudhakaran

Architect + Educator

Pratheek Sudhakaran is an architect and educator who has been involved in academia in several design institutions in India. His triple interest in practice, education and research has engaged his studio in various types and scales of projects. He travels extensively across the world to document architectural practices and has conducted workshops in various geographies, ranging from Ladakh to Kerala. A lifelong learner, he is presently pursuing his Doctoral Research on Architecture for climate change. He has several publications and awards to his credit and continues to work towards ecologically sensitive projects across the country.

R Vimala

IAS Officer + CEO at MSRLM

R. Vimala, IAS officer and CEO at Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission. She is an inspiring and hard working woman who has led many young rural women into becoming entrepreneurs. She also believes that the young generation particularly technically qualified students should have an exposure to rural life and its social aspects to channelize their education and thoughts for the general welfare of the society. This strong independent women has dedicated most of her time into getting such entrepreneurs recognized in the global world and believes in the fact that education is not only important but the interest in selecting courses as per the student's liking is equally important. She also feels it is very important to take full advantage of the available opportunities.

Rishikesh Potdar

Paper-cutting artist+Entrepreneur

Rishikesh Potdar, India's only live speed paper-cutting artist. He is a self taught artist and an engineering student who started all this as a hobby. Famous for his performance on India Got Talent (Season 5), he has traveled all around India & abroad with more than 150 live shows, showcasing his unique talent. Rishikesh has even performed on many TV shows and channels like ZEE TV, Star Plus, Colors TV, etc. Apart from live shows, he is also an entrepreneur managing his company Paper Arts and works in graphic designing, events, interiors, print media and production. Milestone for Rishikesh is the few moments of genuine happiness which he can give to his audience, the smile on their faces and the overwhelming feedback and response he gets from people seeing his work.

Samentha Fernandes

Television Actress+Dancer+Stylist

Samentha Fernandes is a very famous television actress and dancer, known for her role on the famous Indian TV show Dil Dosti Dance as Simmi Malhotra. She was also a resident DJ at "21 Farenhite" and an assistant DJ at "Firangi Paani". She also has styled for shows like Bindaas Naach on Bindaas and Girls On Top (MTV). Currently, she works as an in- house producer with Mad Hatter Media.

Shray Rai Tiwari

Actor+Model+In-House Director at Cafe Counsel.

Shray Rai Tiwari is an Actor, Model, National level Swimmer and the In-House Director at Cafe Counsel. In 2012, he won “The MTV Chat House” reality show. Previously, he has featured in SHAB a movie directed by Onir and his recent film, "Kuch bheegay alfaaz" by Saregama was released on 16 th February, 18. His endorsements are with AXE, Hindware, Mountain Dew, Myntra , Engage, Neutrogena, Swiggy. Shray Rai is a firm believer of Mental Health. The mental health of actors and athletes are his major field interest and continuously reaches out to the youths suffering from mental illness. both locally and internationally.

Wyomia Goveya

Music Therapist

Wyomia is a professionally trained Music Therapist, with a Master of Music Therapy (MMT) degree from Nordoff-Robbins, London. She has been pioneering music therapy in Mumbai, and working with children as well as young people with special needs. Her love and passion for music therapy has helped many special needs kids to reach their potential by increasing concentration span, developing language and communication skills, nourishing self-confidence. She is a special lady who has used her talent to bring joy, laughter and happiness in the lives of these special needs kids.
