Alan Raskin

Alan Raskin attends Calkins Road Middle school and is in the 8th Grade. He is actively involved in the Student Council as Vice President. He joined Best Buddies, a non-profit organization focused on ending ableism, one year ago and became president of the school chapter. He has been fighting against the discrimination of people with disabilities ever since. He also enjoys traveling, geography, and gardening. He lives with his Mom, Dad, and sister in Pittsford NY.
Anderson Allen
Actor & Teaching Artist
Anderson Allen is an actor, mentor, and teaching artist in the Rochester community. He is the Assistant Educational Coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester, and facilitates a writing program in partnership with Writers and Books and the City of Rochester Rec Centers, Breathing Fire Teen Poetry Slam.Anderson’s work has been featured in the Washington Post, and other local news outlets such as City Newspapers, Open Mic Rochester, and Democrat & Chronicle. He is the 2017 winner of the NYS TANYS award for outstanding acting, and the 2016 Roc Award for Best Male Poet.
Andrew Brady

Andrew’s forthcoming book, For The EVOLution of Business, explores how the principles of positive psychology and cultural evolution reveal the path toward a more “conscious” capitalism and why the only sustainable path to a thriving planet is through inclusive prosperity.
Brian Roets

Brian Roets, Innovation Leader Brian Roets examines the technology and cultural landscape, charting new directions for process automation and innovation within it. He has almost 20 years’ experience in Information Technology. His time spent in the Business Process Outsourcing and Telecommunications industries, in addition to delivering services for HP worldwide, helps him accelerate people’s journey to digital transform and achieve better outcomes. Brian joined SMP in 2012 to develop and lead their End-User Computing Practice. Over the last couple years, he has created a cross functional team focusing on End-User, Infrastructure and Cloud Computing strategies with the highest level of expertise in designing, deploying and supporting highly-sophisticated solutions for local and global organizations.
Carmen Gumina
Superintendent
Carmen Gumina is the Superintendent of the Webster Central School District (and an educator for the last 30 years, including a recipient of Disney’s American Teacher of the Year award); but, he’s also a son, husband, father, science geek, meditator, Tweeter extraordinaire, avid (yet slow) trail runner, laugher at his own jokes, and believer in the power of story. His vision is to to be joyfully engaged and compassionately connected with his students and colleagues each and every day.
Emily Atieh
Student
Emily Atieh is a senior at Allendale Columbia School. She is a part of Allendale’s Global Diploma Program, and dedicated to promoting understanding and empathy cross-culturally. Her interest in Middle Eastern politics and culture specifically stems from a large portion of her family residing in Lebanon. Looking ahead, she plans to take a gap year to learn Arabic and then pursue anthropology and Middle Eastern studies in college.
Kyle Skovira
Kyle is a teacher at Enrico Fermi School #17 in Rochester, NY. Kyle has been a part of creating a student council at School 17. In its second year, the 17 School student council is advised by Ellen Walpole, Gina Verdin, and Kyle. The student leaders are Byron Wooten, Karielis Hernandez, Destiny Baez, Denise Thompson, Arianna Dorado, Jade Castro, and Jose Rivera. Our group is focused primarily on empowering and utilizing student voice to collaborate with the school community. Together, we strive to bridge gaps in understanding by being beacons guiding others to a higher social awareness.
Natalie Northrup
Student
Natalie Northrup is a senior at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. She intends to study engineering in college with a focus on green energy development, which segues perfectly into her greatest passion: protecting the environment. She developed a club to introduce sustainability and composting to K-5 students through classroom lessons. Her passions include hiking, Nordic skiing, camping, cooking, and writing. Her ideal day would include three delicious home-cooked vegetarian meals, chats about life over coffee or tea, a few hours outside breathing fresh air, and whatever book has most recently captured her attention.
Samuel Thompson
College Student & entrepreneur
After realizing his hopes of a professional basketball career were dead (even though not that close), Sam Thompson shifted gears and became obsessed with social media and the impact it creates in the world. Sam’s work has led him to work in a variety of industries and businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies (yes, that was him in the McDonald’s burger meme) to the most impactful startup ecosystems in the US.
