Here at GEMS Wellington Academy Dubai, Silicon Oasis, student voices within the GEMS education community will come together at this Youth event, to showcase their ideas relating to the theme 'Unheard Voices', provoking thought, discussion and action.

Ayesha Kuwari

Student

As a human rights and environmental activist, Ayesha is constantly striving for change. At 16 years old, she has organised an MUN conference, and is also the president of Cosmos, an organisation she pioneered dedicated to raising awareness for sustainable development goals. In addition, she has collaborated with a UN representative to discuss human rights with the GEMS youth. At TEDx, she aims to inspire thought about peaceful resistance.

Carys Davidson-Huxley

What defines you? Your background, your hobbies, your quirks? For Carys' little brother Harry, it's autism and dyspraxia. Carys aims to alter the one-dimensional lens people are viewed, by introducing you to the real Harry.

Maya Khalifeh

I'm 18 years old, currently in my senior year of high school at Bradenton Preparatory Academy. I love to play sports, mainly football. I have trained and played with Jordan’s National team, and currently play for a girls academy in Dubai, and I will be representing my university next year after I graduate. I also play the piano, and am currently approaching the last steps of my musical studies for graduation from the ABRSM. I’m a very talkative person, so if you ever see me, don’t hesitate to talk to me. I have received the Sheika Fatima Award for Excellence last year, & recently nominated for fittest teen UAE in the under 19 category. At school, I also serve as the Student Body President, and as the captain of many sports teams such as football, basketball, & volleyball. Living in Dubai has allowed me to achieve so much and build so much confidence and leadership skills. I now hope to add such an event of TEDx youth to my list of accomplishments during my last 3 years of high school.

Nicholas Sankar

Passionate and perseverant, Nicholas Sankar is determined to inspire thought about mental health issues that plague the youth by sharing his experience. He is also a valued member of the WSO performing arts and sports community. At 16 years old, he is in the process of starting his acting career.

Milan, New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Dubai; Tommaso is truly an global citizen! At only eleven years old, Tommaso has had his fair share of good-byes. Here at TEDx he is determined to unite the Third Culture Kids of the world and share his experience.
