Brian Crombie

Principal Crombie Capital, CFO and DBA and Speaker on Social Capital
Brian Crombie runs his own merchant bank specializing is strategy consulting, finance, due diligence and M&A. Brian is currently CFO of the Ottawa Senators NHL Hockey Team, a start-up pharmaceutical company Santius LifeScience and an entertainment company Steel Rail Entertainment. Brian works with clients in alternative energy, high tech, Pharma, sports and many other industries. He is the President of Mississauga Arts Council, former Founder and co-chair of the Mississauga Western GTA Summits and is the Chair of a GTA advocacy organization, Transit Alliance. Brian is a visiting lecturer at the DeGroote School of Business EMBA on Corporate Finance and at the Directors College. Brian is a frequent speaker on Social Capital Community and the Power of CO as well as on Cluster Development and Transit. He has an HBA from Ivey, an MBA from Harvard and is completing a DBA from ISM Paris with the topic: The Role of Social Capital in Innovative Economic Clusters in Times of Financial Duress.

Claire Seaborn

Claire Seaborn is a lawyer and social justice advocate based in Toronto. As an associate at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, Claire’s practice is focused on commercial, public law and regulatory litigation. Over the past six years, Claire has been a champion for the rights of unpaid interns in Canada, at the United Nations and around the world. Claire is a founder of the Canadian Intern Association and the Global Intern Coalition, organizations that aim to improve workplace rights for interns and end the cycle of privilege that allows unpaid internships to persist across numerous professions and industries. Claire has frequently appeared and been cited in national and international media discussing interns’ rights, including for the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, CTV, CBC, Canadian Press, Radio France, MacLean’s and Huffington Post.

Runaway | Homeless Youth Advocate and Expert Marnie Grundman is the author of MISSING: A True Story of a Childhood Lost. A child who belonged to no one, missing at the tender age of 13, she spent years living on the streets where she experienced the worst of humanity first-hand. What began as a story of healing led to one of triumph, of the power of the human spirit, of one woman's surthrival against all odds. Marnie has since become an advocate for the missing, working to change the perception of runaway children so they might finally get the help they desperately need. Her compelling book, engaging talks, and insightful articles have become a shining light to the lost and the struggling. Marnie guides and teaches how not to live their damage, how to heal and overcome, how to rise up and reclaim a life of happiness.

Martin Waxman

Professor and Author
Martin Waxman, APR, leads digital and social media training and workshops, is a communications strategist and teaches digital strategy. He's the co-founder of three PR agencies, president of a consultancy, Martin Waxman Communications, and has worked in the industry for 25+ years. He’s a LinkedIn Learning and Lynda.com author, one of the hosts of the Inside PR podcast, a past-chair of PRSA Counselors Academy, and a past-president of CPRS Toronto. Martin developed a Certificate in Digital Strategy and Communications Management for the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies and teaches several courses there. He’s a social media and PR professor at Seneca College and regularly speaks at conferences across North America. Martin has published two books of fiction, an ebook on multimedia storytelling, and is currently completing his Master in Communications Management from McMaster University.

Sarah Boulton

Singer, Songwriter and Mental Health Advocate
Sarah Boulton is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Niagara. She was booked for her first gig at the age of 13 and, over the last decade, she has built a full-time career as a performing artist. Although Southern Ontario has been seeing the most of her so far, she has also performed in Barbados at Holder’s Season Festival 2015. Since 2015 she has been writing and recording material for her first studio album with award-winning producer, Tim Abraham, at downtown Toronto’s Soleil Sound and The Hive. She has also worked with several other incredible writers and producers in Toronto and LA. As an artist, who has struggled with anxiety for the majority of her life, she has become driven to become an advocate for mental health, and through her music career, hopes to help end the stigma attached to mental illness.

Scott Stratten

Scott Stratten has co-written five best-selling business books and was formerly a music industry marketer, National Sales Training Manager, and a Professor at Sheridan College. He ran one of the most successful viral video agencies in the world for nearly a decade before solely focusing on speaking at events for companies like Walmart, Pepsi, Adobe, IBM, Microsoft, Cirque du Soleil and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Sultan is an accomplished social entrepreneur, professional who has traveled to more than 70 countries and has worked around the world. He is the founder of Experience Your Life Expo, one of the largest youth empowerment and employment events in Canada, which focuses on connecting youth with opportunities to change the world. Sultan is also the founder of Library in a Week, an organization dedicated to illuminating the lives of some of the poorest children on the planet with the goal of building 100 libraries. Both of these organizations are ranked among the top social enterprises in Canada and have received various awards. Prior to becoming a social entrepreneur, Sultan worked in the corporate world for 17 years in various roles such as Worldwide Solutions Director, Practice Manager, and Chief Architect for companies like Microsoft and IBM.
