TEDxYouth@Vail – Defy the Predictable! – Where radically real ideas are delivered by youth and prominent figures in our valley. This event, organized solely by the valley’s youth, boasts ideas worth sharing that will open your mind to intimate revelations, brilliant creativity, and deep data. You’ll find live speakers, hands-on activities, hand-picked TED Talks and fascinating conversations with designers, technologists, politicians, artists, performers and more! They will share short talks on how they Defy the Predictable, serving both as a source of knowledge and inspiration for youth in the Vail Valley.

Session 1: Interlocking Worlds

Every day, the different worlds we come from blend together in a kaleidoscope of experiences and stories. Delivering funny, compelling, and personal talks, this session’s speakers focus on messages that bloom from their diverse backgrounds. No matter if you’ve heard it before - these testimonials will either give a voice to your own thoughts or introduce you to an entirely new perspective. They urge us to move forward together by joining together. Hearing their voices, but more importantly, seeing their flames burning bright.

Session 2: Design Your Future | Demand Your Future

Our youth are our future, and this session’s speakers illustrate this brilliantly with their own, unique vivid paintings and pictures. Hear their stories and be inspired by their calls to action that turn our world into motion: positive uplifting motion that might just make tomorrow stronger, better, and brighter than today.

Alondra Escobar

Advocate for Social Justice
Born in Vail and raised in Mexico, Alondra Escobar is a passionate, young, and empowered person straight out of the Rockies. Everything she does, she hopes is for a greater good. With 3 years now in EVTV, (Eagle Valley Student Media) hoping it’s impacted her community to become better and more inclusive, now wants to bring the change straight to her audience in person and not just through a screen.

Eijah Diaz

Transgender Activist
Elijah Diaz is a content female to male transgender 18 year old student currently attending R-5 High School, born in Aspen, Colorado and raised throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Diaz travels throughout the Valley with his trusty mastweiler, Ace, and his camera, trying to capture through film and through life the transitions we face. He is passionate about trying to help our communities help individuals work through adversity.

Estefania Godoy

MexiCAN DREAMer
he is the blue eyed, blonde girl that despite her appearance was born in Tlaquepaque Jalisco, Mexico. Being raised to continue her traditions, and proudly display her heritage. She even speaks perfectly fluent Spanish which is surprising to many. She enjoys reading, playing soccer, and drawing. Although at times the world may seem quite gloomy, she will always try to maintain a smile on her face. She is Estefania.

Michael Klubock

Sailor Turned Environmental Educator
Michael Klubock, is the Founder and Executive Director of the Malibu Foundation for Environmental Education and KIDS OCEAN DAY, a Los Angeles City based non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to a sustainable and healthy planet for all life. Klubock is a sailor turned environmental educator, who brought his love for the beaches and ocean to the creation of an education effort to get more kids to the beach and in touch with nature. His purpose is to empower kids into action and for them to see the impact they make on the planet. Klubock’s personal story of supporting communities, opportunities, and access is a true motivator for all to live the life they love.

Natalie Berger

Explorer
Natalie Berger was born and raised in Vail, Colorado. She is 17 years old and a junior at Battle Mountain High School. Once a competitive mogul skier, she has since turned her attention to volleyball and lacrosse. She enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, traveling, and being in the mountains.

Noel Ginsburg

Colorado Gubernatorial Candidate
In 1980, Noel Ginsburg founded Intertech Plastics. Intertech is a custom injection molding business that manufactures products for the consumer and medical device markets. The company employs nearly 200 people out of two facilities and operates 24/7. Ginsburg has been active in many community and business organizations. He was the founding chair of the Colorado Advanced Manufacturing Alliance (CAMA) and the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation. In addition, Ginsburg was an appointee on the State Economic Development Commission and the Colorado Workforce Development Council, a board member of the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Denver Public Schools College and Career Pathways council, and was appointed by Governor Hickenlooper to lead the Business Experiential Learning (BEL) Commission for the State of Colorado. This work led him to found the statewide nonprofit, CareerWise Colorado - a high school apprenticeship system that aligns K12, higher education, and business.

Sylka Snyder

Wilderness Enthusiast
Sylka is currently finishing her senior year at Battle Mountain High School. She grew up in Vail, CO and has lived there for her whole life. She was sent to a therapeutic wilderness program her freshman year of high school due to her depression, and from this experience, she became interested in raising awareness of mental health. She loves being outdoors, it is one of the few things that truly makes her happy. Her wilderness experience has changed her life and has been the most significant step she has taken to becoming the person she is today. She has applied to various colleges and in the next chapter of her life, she hopes to study psychology at a university where she can be involved in the community and also keep in touch with the outdoors.

Vail Valley Academy of Dance

Dance Academy
Vail Valley Academy of Dance works to educate and train young people in the art and discipline of dance. Whether one wishes to dance as an avocation or pursue dance as a career, the school believes dance can be a vital and positive influence on the lives of children and young adults.
