In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Como Viceministra de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible de Colombia impulsó soluciones innovadoras como Visión Amazonía y la iniciativa de Ganadería Colombiana Sostenible para reducir la deforestación en el país. También lideró la estructuración financiera del Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para financiar acciones para enfrentar el Cambio Climático. Recientemente como Directora de The Nature Conservancy para los países de la región Andina promovió alianzas público-privadas para restaurar y conservar los ríos que abastecen de agua a las principales ciudades y sectores del país. Recibió la Gran Cruz Extraordinaria Orden al Mérito Ambiental Barón Alexander von Humboldt en reconocimiento a las contribuciones hechas en el área ambiental, institucional y en la sociedad

Diana Gaviria

Diana Gaviria has over 20 years’ experience in leadership roles in the government, non-profit, the private sector and academia. She holds a Bachelor Degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University and a Masters in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University. In her early career she worked in environmental issues at the Colombian National Planning Department, the National Parks Service and the Ministry of the Environment, where she was Secretary General. In these posts she helped create several financial vehicles for environmental projects and social entrepreneurs, including Ecofondo, Fondo de Acción Ambiental y la Niñez and Patrimonio Natural. During the last six years she has been the CEO of Connect Bogota, a non-profit organization created by over fifty universities and corporations with the objective of transforming Bogota into one of the most innovative regions in Latin America. At Connect she has works with entrepreneurs and innovators in Bogota and around the world. In 2018, she will be a judge in LATAM's version of History Channel's Program "An Idea to Change the World". Her passion is to connect transformative ideas and projects with people and resources that will help make them a reality.

Juan Pablo Umaña

Juan P. Umaña is a cardiovascular surgeon, who currently occupies the position of Chief Medical Officer at the Fundacion Cardioinfantil (FCI) in Bogota, Colombia. His passion for innovation and excellence led to the invention and patenting of a device to repair the mitral valve, which is widely used in Europe, North- and South America. After twelve years of training at two of the top medical institutions in the US, Columbia University and Stanford University, Juan Pablo returned to Colombia in 2002 to work at the FCl where he was named chief of cardiovascular surgery. Result-driven and a strong believer in teamwork, he fostered the creation of patient registries for continuous improvement, as well as state-of-the-art programs such as transcatheter heart-valve therapies, valve repair, and heart transplantation. As Chief Medical Officer he has been a strong ally of the government, advocating the role private institutions need to play to guarantee the future of the Colombian health care system.

Katherine Sutton

Katherine Sutton is a social entrepreneur with an interest in poverty alleviation. Working in Nuquí, Chocó for the past 12 years, Katherine helps local leaders develop their ideas into opportunities by bringing together communities, government entities and nongovernmental organizations. Currently President of the Chocó Surf League, she believes that selfless service positively impacts vulnerable populations and changes lives.
