In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adam Mosley

Adam Mosley is a former pastor and missionary who has channeled his passion for global poverty into an effort to bring clean water to over 2.1 billion people who live without this most basic element of life. As the Director of Global Business Development for Uzima Water Filters, Adam builds bridges between businesses, governments, and NGOs, and between felt needs and financial realities. Adam and his family reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

Allyss Haecker

Dr. Allyss Haecker is currently the Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Emory & Henry College (VA) where she teaches voice, conducting, choral methods, vocal pedagogy, diction, and directs the Concert and Chamber Choirs. Dr. Haecker received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in choral conducting from the University of Iowa, her Master’s of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Illinois, and her Bachelor’s of Music Education degree in choral music education from Converse College (SC). Dr. Haecker lives in Emory, Virginia with her husband, Arthur, and their son, Kai.

Susan Seubert

Award-winning travel and editorial photographer Susan Seubert has photographed more than 30 feature stories for National Geographic Traveler. Her subjects range from Canada to the Caribbean and Texas to Thailand and beyond. Susan’s work has been recognized by Columbia University’s Alfred Eisenstadt Award and most recently by the North American Travel Journalists Association for excellence in photography. She lectures regularly about her work at such institutions as Harvard University and the Portland Art Museum. Based in Portland, Oregon and Maui, Hawaii, Susan travels throughout the world shooting a variety of subjects and capturing a sense of place through her wide-ranging imagery. Susan’s in-depth knowledge of digital technologies and her multimedia skills keep her at the cutting edge of visual storytelling. Born and raised in Indiana, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and hasn’t set her camera down since.

Travis Proffitt

Travis Proffitt is the Director of Academic Diversity Initiatives and teaches in the Civic Innovation major at Emory & Henry College. He is a 2004 graduate of E&H, earning degrees in Religion and Public Policy & Community Service. He also earned a Master’s degree in Social Justice from Loyola University Chicago and is currently working on his PhD in Humanities and Culture, with a specialization in Dr. Martin Luther King Studies at The Union Institute & University. Outside of all that academic mumbo jumbo, Travis is a proud Appalachian, husband, brother and son, and the proud father of a very lovable dog and eight slightly less lovable chickens.
