Theme: 'Verbinding' translated to connection

Our first TEDxAmstelveen in 2018 was focussed on connections. There was a very divers program about connecting people, learning by making a connection, travelling using a connection, technical connections, chemical connections and more. Our first TEDxAmstelveen was in a great venue, an old church, ANNA. You can find extra information on our website.
There were 9 live speakers at TEDxAmstelveen, 6 talks will be in Dutch, 3 in English. We also showed two great TEDx video's from the TED library.

Jeroen de Graaf is a certified expert in body language. He analyses videos and interviews. In workshops and seminars he makes people aware of the impact of non verbal communication.

Kitty Nijmeijer

Professor in Membrane Materials and Processes

With over 15 years of experience in the field of polymer membrane design, characterization and application, Kitty Nijmeijer leads the research group Membrane Materials and Processes that focuses on design and development of polymer membranes to separate molecular mixtures for sustainable processes. Her research expertise focuses on the fundamentals of membrane chemistry and morphology to control mass transport in macroscopic applications. It combines and integrates material science and process technology. Water and Energy are the main application areas with a strong focus on recovery and reuse of resources, the valorisation of waste streams and energy efficient processes in the context of a sustainable circular economy.

He is a filmmaker and a creator of new ideas. He is also director of the Happy Motion foundation.

Rinie Hoeks

Educator

Rinie Hoeks has been an English teacher at Dutch high schools for over 25 years. She researched and developed study material for children with dyslexia. She believes that schools should pay more attention to spelling education.

Ritika Mehra

Event organizer

Ritika Mehra is founder of Bridging The Gap Foundation, an expatriate organization founded in Amstelveen whose aim is to integrate the expatriate Indian community with the local Indian and Dutch communities in the Netherlands.

Roy Groot

Children coach

Roy Groot works at a daycare center. He is a child coach and thinks we can learn a lot from children. He believes we should be more in touch with each other with actual attention.

Vincent Wever

Chief editor of Public transport magazine

Vincent Wever is chief editor of OV Magazine which is a Dutch Public Transport magazine. He beliefs we should consider less usage of our car and start walking or cycling as this will improve our social life.
