In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alberta Soranzo

Director of End-to-End Service Design

An incorrigible nomad, Alberta was born and raised in Italy, has lived in California and now works in London, as Director of End-to-End Service Design and Systems Thinking at Lloyds Banking Group. Prior to that, Alberta lead design teams at a couple of agencies in London, and, for many years, worked in a range of senior design roles at UCLA. At LBG, Alberta leads a team of systems thinkers and service designers, shaping the future of financial services by transforming the organization and its services from within. Alberta sketchnotes the meetings she attends (and there are many), is a resolute ice hockey player and cares deeply about context and the very small things that, she says, "matter a lot".

Emma Lawton

Creative Director

Emma Lawton is a Creative Director living in London. Four years ago, just as the company she was working for was redesigning the Parkinson’s UK website, she was diagnosed with the condition herself. She was aged just 29. It could have ruined her life. Instead, it made her quit her job, start her own business, write a book and share her story to inspire others with the condition. She has made it her mission to raise awareness, becoming an award winning charity campaigner and spokeswoman for the condition. She writes on the subject for newspapers and magazines, is an inspirational speaker at business events and published her book, Dropping the P Bomb, in April 2016. Emma is fascinated by the role technology can play in healthcare. Last December she was the subject of a BBC2 documentary where an inventor created a bespoke wristband that vibrates and allows her to write and draw – something her tremor has made difficult since diagnosis.

Rachael Dennis

Chief Operating Officer at Catalyst Housing

Rachael is Chief Operating Officer at Catalyst Housing, a housing association in London that owns and manages over 20,000 affordable homes in London and the South East, as well as developing hundreds of new homes each year for affordable and market sale and rent. Rachael grew up and studied liberal arts in the US before moving to rural Devon in her early 20s. Having juggled the challenges of raising a young family, with a struggling family business, ultimately Rachael and her husband swapped roles and worked together to create their own version of ‘normal' family life; a partnership which, alongside a dose of life experiences enabled Rachael to get her accountancy qualification and embark on a successful career in social housing finance. Rachael has been an Executive Director in housing for over 10 years and has held non-executive positions in housing, NHS, and the arts. She now shares her life between working in London and living in rural Wiltshire.
