Theme: Shaping The Future

TEDxIIMKashipur is an ongoing journey filled with enriching experience; enthralling and taking us to newer realms. Our journey started in 2014 with a simple idea, an idea to conduct the event for the students of IIM Kashipur with the theme ‘Ideas in Action’, that changed our way of thinking and freed our minds. It continued in 2015 also based on the theme ‘Actions Bring Change’. Progressing in the journey of evolution, the third edition of TEDxIIMKashipur was organised on December 10th, 2016 with the theme ‘Breaking Barriers’. Its main aim was to emphasize on the fact is that nothing is impossible and the predicaments that we face in our journey, how big they may be, can definitely be removed by the sheer passion and diligence.

Continuing the legacy, we bring the fourth edition of TEDxIIMKashipur with the theme ‘Shaping The Future’. This is a unique opportunity, both for the speakers and audience alike as the emphasis is on ideas laid bare before audience and interpretation are as many as the people in audience itself.

Arup Datta

Founder and CEO of Khadder Foundation

Arup Datta is an egalitarian individual with a keen focus on social entrepreneuring in the handloom, khadi & organic produce sectors, in the mission to make rural produce a global habit, with the vision of creating social impact brands with BoP supply chain backbone for a global audience. Mr Datta is also the founder and CEO of Khadder, perhaps one of his greatest entrepreneurial achievement among many; which is used to market the products manufactured by 191 families and 800 people across 7 states, all of whom are aided by the Ranmir foundation of Mr Datta (Founding Trustee). His efforts are not only to give these people a platform but are also aimed at renovating the structure in which these businesses operate.

Gauri Sawant

Transgender Activist

Gauri Sawant is a transgender activist, founder of the NGO ‘Sakhi Char Chowghi’, brand ambassador of a micro-finance company and a proud mother. She featured in the viral advertisement of Vicks - Generation of care touch. She has fought relentlessly for the equal rights of the transgender and has committed herself to building a safe haven for children of sex workers.

Girish Kulkarni

Social Activist

Girish Kulkarni founded the organization Snehalaya, which has helped more than 1 lakh people and operates to aid the Women and Children marred by Prostitution and Sex trade. He is a trained journalist and professor with S.P Pune University and a pioneer for social change, a visionary and an inspirational leader. Mr. Girish was bestowed the Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh National award by the President of India for his service in the field of Social Work.

Rahul Srivastav

Public Relations Officer to DGP Uttar Pradesh Police

Rahul Srivastav is the Additional Superintendent of Police / Public Relations Officer to DGP UP. He has completed his M.A. (History) and M.Phil (International Studies) from JNU. Having been decorated with the “Presidents Medal for Gallantry”, the country’s highest gallantry award for civilian Police Officers, and the DG Commendation disk in 2017, he is known for starting the Twitter Seva of UP police, for which he has won several awards.

Rama Vaidyanathan

Rama Vaidyanathan is a legendary Bharatnatyam performer, who has been mesmerizing audiences for over 3 decades. She was trained by the legendary dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy and the renowned Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan. Ms. Rama has been conferred upon with innumerable prestigious awards and titles across the globe, thus underlining her legacy. She teaches at Ganesa Natyalaya Delhi, and has also been associated with SPICMACAY.

Saarthak Bakshi

CEO, International Fertility Centre

Saarthak Bakshi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Fertility Centre, is recognized as Forbes 30 under 30 ASIA, 2017 for HealthCare and Science. He is known for his persona as an engineer, an entrepreneur and a social worker. He flourished his career by working with reputed companies like Infosys and Ernst & Young. He soon realized that he has an inborn passion for entrepreneurship and went on to launch a slew of ventures including IFC.
