Theme: Against the Tide

At TEDxPanaji, where x = independently organized TED event, live speakers and TEDTalks videos combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. In 2018, being the second year of TEDxPanaji we are all excited with the possibilities that will reveal to us, as the event unfolds. The theme of the event is #AgainstTheTide, which celebrates people and ideas that have challenged conventions and braved the odds to swim against the currents. Let's meet to spread such radical, ground breaking and unique ideas.

Architect

Abhijit is an architect who has walked the extra mile in educating people about preserving and reviving traditional skills and knowledge of Indian communities especially the building practices. His renovation projects aim to revive pre-Portuguese and Kadamba-era temple architecture.

Capt. Dilip Donde

Captain (Retd) Indian Navy

Capt. Donde is India’s first Solo Circumnavigator of the globe on sail. He was a Clearance Diver by profession in Indian Navy; now an author and leadership coach. He planned and executed Project ‘Sagar Parikrama’, that involved constructing a sailboat in India and sailing it unassisted around the globe.

Darryl D'Souza

Naturopath

Darryl is the author of "Become Healthy or Extinct", a book about reversing chronic illnesses with integrated natural therapy. The book has followers in over 150 countries. An engineer by profession, but drawn into the world of natural therapies after failed attempts by modern medicine to cure him of some serious illnesses at a young age. Darryl is a pioneer in Integrated Wellness & Spirituality and conducts life-transforming talks & workshops that expose the real causes of widespread sickness in society and he gives you breakthrough ideas on how to become part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.

Donald is a social entrepreneur and founder of an NGO that works for the the needy & destitute providing food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, medicines to the sick, blood to the ailing & jobs to the unemployed. He has been able to create a model that has worked wonders while simultaneously making a positive impact on society.

Dr. Nandita de Souza

Pediatrician

Dr. Nandita is a pediatrician with an experience of 25 years in developmental and behavioural pediatrics. She is the Director of the Sethu Centre for Child Development & Family Guidance, where a multidisciplinary team of professionals help children challenged by disability or conditions that affect their learning and behaviour, by harnessing their development. She believes that every child has strengths, which can play a huge role in helping them rise above their difficulties.

Drupad Gaonkar

Mime Artist

Drupad is a Goan performing artist currently residing in Auroville, Pondichery, India. He is a mime exponent with interests in art, dance, theatre, and juggling. Owing to his myriad experiences studying arts and delivering numerous performances as an artist, he has been able to culminate his knowledge and skills into his mime acts. He holds the World Record for his 50 hours long Mime Marathon which is the longest till date.

Manish Jain

Engineer

Manish is an IIT Kanpur alumnus. A chance meeting with Padmashree Arvind Gupta triggered him to dive into the space of popular science education full-time. Manish currently heads Creative Learning Initiative (CLI) at IIT Gandhinagar which aims to provide an ideal space and environment to learn and understand concepts joyously. His goal is to ignite interest, inquisitive spirit, and scientific temper to nurture inherent creativity and passion for science and technology among all.

Raunak Hede

Raunak is a 10th grade student, with excellent coding skills in embedded C and Python languages. He is an avid Robotics geek and has volunteered as a SCRATCH programming teacher in and around schools in Goa as part of the Project GEIT (Goans Empowered with Information Technology). He has also taken part & won accolades in Robotics competing against Engineering students.

Sai Damodar Group

Folk music of Goa

A group of amateur artists who have been performing and winning awards at the traditional devotional music festival and events. They have the potential to elevate the indigenous Goan musical instruments to the global level. They are Ghumat Aarti (devoational songs) singers and performers - 'Sai Damodar Group' from Margao, Goa who play and experiment with Goan folk music and percussion instruments like ghumat, dhol, taaso, samel, kaasaale and also create a fusion with harmonium and vocals.
