Theme: Diverse thinking

TEDxYouth@CopernicusNo33 is organized by the students from the 33rd Copernicus Bilingual High School in Warsaw. We would like to gather the audience made of students from different schools to spread interesting ideas shared by most interesting speakers - innovators, specialists, lecturers, students, researchers and more! We hope to create a friendly atmosphere enhanced by the magical interior of our venue - The Buffo Studio. We hope to see you there on the 9th of February!

Jacek Biedrzycki

project manager, entepreneur

Railway engineering, software development, IT support, operations and executive management, entrepreneurship, project management. I have tried them all during 30 years of my professional life. I had a chance to manage projects of various size and areas cooperating with people of various cultures and nationalities and I am currently running IT related projects for international company. I also train people on project management tools and solutions. I am interested in evolution as a natural way of continuous improvement, looking for evolutionary mechanisms outside the field of biology. This is also valid for project management - is there a space for evolutionary mechanisms or we have to base on intelligent design only?

I'm the student of 33 Bilingual High School in Warsaw. If I were to decide what virtue is the most important, without any doubts I would choose opened-mindness, as I firmly believe that's the key to a successful career and life. Thus I've been embroiled in organization of numerous projects, such as MUN and Moot Courts, which aim is to raise awareness about opportunities we as young people have in High School. On Tedx Copernicus I will be thrilled to talk about the ways we can influence the market and economy using the most powerful tool of our generation- Social Media.

Jaroslaw Szulski

Teacher, manager, entepreneur

I am an entepreneur, a manager, a teacher. I am also a founder of JS&CO Dom Wydawniczy, author of books (novels "Zdarza się", "SOR" and cowritten with Jacek Santorski "Siła spokoju"). I cooperate with Values - the Advisory Firm Group, where for 8 years I have been managing the project team of the postgraduate academic program for management boards, managers and owners - the Academy of Leadership Psychology. Teacher and educator at the Warsaw Junior and High School of the name of T. Rejtan. I promote the idea of upbringing and education in the media.

Marcin Jażyński

Doctor of philosophy, lecturer

I am a doctor of philosophy (PhD on "Functional architecture of the mind and the brain, body and environment" under the supervision of Professor Jacek Hołówka at University of Warsaw in 2008). I am interested in cognitive science and philosophy of mind. I cooperate with Collegium Civitas and I lecture logics and ethics. I create and direct animated movies.

Marcin Napiórkowski

Author, lecturer at the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw

I study myths. Sometimes I create new ones. I lecture at the Institute of Polish Culture, University of Warsaw. I am interested in consumer myths, urban legends, conspiracy theories and pseudo-scientific theories. I regularly publish for "Tygodnik Powszechny" and "Magazin TVN24", and from time to time in different newspapers. I have successfully written three books: "Mitologia Współczesna", "Władza wyobraźni" and "Powstanie umarłych", which was nominated for the Golden Rose award in category: The best popular science book, Długosz Award and Historical Award of the name of Kazimierz Moczarski. Now, I am working on my fourth book dedicated to the mythology of modern capitalism.

Mateusz Giraudo

Student, traveler

I am the IB student of Copernicus Bilingual High School in Warsaw. I love public speaking, sharing my thoughts and arguing. I always fight until the final satisfying agreement is reached, but the most pleasant feeling for me is when I manage to open someone’s eyes at what they have never appreciated before – basically inspiring. Apart from that, I have a rich debating experience such as Debating Clubs, WLD, MUNs and a two year-long scholarship at Bronisław Geremek Foundation, which made my person more vulnerable and empathetic for global problems and social issues. Apart from that, another passion is languages. I have always been an open-minded and curious person and probably the only one who loves to travel. Hence, on the upcoming event I would love to share my philosophy of travelling

Michał Korch

Mathematician, programmer, popularizer of science, lecturer at the University of Warsaw

I am scientifically interested in set theory, mainly in its part related to the structure of the real line, and I am finishing my PhD in this topic. Apart from set theory I am fascinated in automata theory. I am also a graduate in computer science and sometimes I happen to be a programmer. I like teaching, and I mainly teach students at the University of Warsaw. Mathematics is for me an amazing feature of the world and also a proof to the greatness of human mind and human possibilities. Therefore, I engage myself in popularisation of mathematics. I spend my free time an money travelling. Into the mountains and far away. I am a scout leader. When travelling I take a lot of pictures, and sometimes I create my own music.

Rafał Ohme

Neuroscientist, writer, professor of psychology, entrepreneur

Professor of psychology at UMCS (Poland), longtime member of Polish Academy of Sciences. Fullbright scholar at Kellogg School of Management (USA). Honorary professor at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Renmin University (China). Advisory Board Member at Neuromarketing Science & Business Association (The Netherlands). Owner of NEUROHM – international research company, and INEMO – educational firm. Finalist of Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 Polish Edition by EY. One of the world pioneers in consumer neuroscience. He played guitar in bars of Chicago to pay for his studies in the United States.

Urszula Zdanowicz

Orthopedic surgeon, sports traumatologist, research manager, writer

I am an orthopedic surgeon and sports traumatologist. I specialize in reconstructive and arthroscopic surgery. I am the Research Manager of Carolina Medical Center, a research fellow of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine University in Pittsburgh, where I conduct research on tissue regeneration. I am the author of many scientific publications and chapters in books.
