Theme: Connecting the Disconnected

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

An educator, science communicator and geneticist at Sunway University. Before joining Sunway University, he served at Universiti Putra Malaysia and Perdana University. His career is built on a tripartite mission that focuses on building scientific education, research and service excellence in Malaysia and the ASEAN region.

Che Fai Yeong

Technologist

A senior lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He has won more than 50 awards in innovation and entrepreneurship such as World Invention Award at British Invention Show, Korean Inventor Award Festival, APICTA, Robocon, SME Bank Alliance Bank and MOE Entrepreneurship Mentor Award. He is keen to commercialise research products and currently has 3 spin-off companies. Most of these companies, Dr Yeong work with his students.

Eunice Hoo

Composer, Artist

Singer songwriter managed to release 3 self written Chinese-English albums. She is a very talented singer-songwriter who has won numerous music awards. With her first single, she hopes to convey this positive and happy vibe to her listeners. It is the first time Eunice has included the RAP element in her song composition to create a fun, upbeat and happy mood to the song.

Jecelyn Yeen

Web Developer

Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Web Technologies and Angular. Jecelyn speaks in several languages, including Mandarin, English, Javascript, C#, and HTML. Web development ninja by nature, Randstad's software architect by profession – she has been a practitioner of clean coding for nearly 10 years. When she’s not coding, she’s jumping into mysterious seawaters in search of narwhals and mermaids.

Kuang Wooi Lok

Urban Spaces Architect

A corporate member of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), and a practicing architect based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is the principal of Wooi Architect which he established at the end of 1996. His designs were also awarded Gold Medal in ARCASIA Award (2012) by Architects Regional Council, Asia and Asia Interior Design Bronze Prize (2016) by Asia Interior Design Institute Association (AIDIA) for architectural and design excellence.

Nik Nailah Abdullah

Lecturer

A medical cognitive scientist and computer science lecturer at the School of Information Technology at the Monash University Malaysia. In 2009, she was the ‘Technovisionaire’ speaker for the opening of the Year of Creativity Milano officiated by President Filippo Penati. In 2008, she was invited as a Google Tech Talk speaker at Google Mountain View, California in 2008 to present on her PhD research project.

San Sooi Chin

Legacy Filmaker

He is regarded as one of the 5 living legends of Malaysian theatre. He is well known as the director of Emily of Emerald Hill by Stella Kon at a time in 1984 . Since he premiered the show with Leow Puay Tin taking the titular role at Seremban in the Nov. of 1984 at the Chemera Club House, the play has gained international recognition and inspired other actor and actresses to perform it.
