Abir Sheikh
Student
I am a student of International School of Tanganyika and have been studying here for 3 years. This is the seventh school I have studied in which also resulted in me not having any experience in living in a city for more than 3 years, and yes, that means my clock is ticking for Dar es Salaam. I have been travelling since I was 2 months old and since then have been to at least 15-20 countries. Also, I enjoy reading novels and being involved in theatre, may it be as an audience member or as part of the cast and crew. “Sarcasm is the answer to all” is the motto of my life.
Founder Yoga for Wellness Tanzania
I, Ayesha Samji, Founder and CEO of Yoga for Wellness Tanzania (YWT) a non- governmental organisation that was established in 2015 with its mission to disseminate and teach the awareness and benefits of the principles and practice of yoga and holistic care. This has been achieved through training and education of individuals in the practice of yoga, who in turn share this with the greater Tanzanian community at large. The key goals are to deliver skilled training and education, create internship and employment and spread knowledge.

Sayyeda Datoo
Student
Sayyeda is a student who has lived in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania her whole life and is completing her final year at the International School of Tanganyika. She has a vision of bringing a change for a better tomorrow by actively being involved in various activities including teaching and interning at a special needs school in Tanzania. From these experiences, she learnt about children living with down-syndrome, self-confidence issues and PTSD. What became clear to her during her time there were the limitations facing the facility in their efforts to support the counselling of both children and adults with mental disorders. This formed the main influence on her TEDx idea regarding Tanzania’s unique approach to physical versus emotional aid. With the pressures of day to day life exponentially increasing, the need for emotional aid is fast becoming on par with physical aid, forming her TEDx Talk titled ‘The 3 R's to emotional awakening”
