Self-diagnosed with a serious case of obsessive reading disorder, books have become a home to her as much as Nanjing. At TEDxYouth@NIS, Angela will be sharing stories and results from her recent project exploring the use of fiction to teach empathy to local Chinese school children and her realization that empathy is not taught, but inspired. In her talk, she will examine how children’s books can be used to gently deliver the spark of empathy that will one day grow into a wildfire.

James Gu
Sustainable farmer
Sustainable agriculture is the base for survival of a sustainable society. Current agriculture practices are polluting our air, water and soil, which makes it unsustainable. Permaculture recycles local resources and uses nature elements to grow healthy produces. It doesn’t need chemical factories that create dirty and poisonous smoke and water. We have practiced permaculture at Time Farm for more than 5 years. Our experience has proved permaculture is feasible and can grow enough foods to feed our community. I will share the ideas behind permaculture and how we did in these years.
