In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Takagi Kotomi

Kotomi Takagi was the first Japanese female factory manager of P&G Co. Her career began when she entered the department of product supply in 1990, eventually becoming the first female operation manager of the Takasaki factory in 2005. In 2012, she was instated as the associate director of the department of detergents for Asia. Coming back to Japan in 2013, she became the first Japanese women to manage the company’s factory in Shiga. She has been a role model to other female employees of P&G Co. for balancing her life and career. She has spoken at the ACCJ Women in Business Summit in 2015, and was awarded the Japan Women Award in 2016.

Teruaki Enoto

Dr. Teruaki Enoto is an astrophysicist with a focus in x-ray astronomy. He works to solve the mysteries of nature, from the familiar phenomenon we see on earth to the heavenly bodies far from our planet. His motto is "I don't do what everybody else wants to do.” He is currently focusing on three main themes: fundamental physics of neutron stars studied via cosmic x-rays; high-energy phenomena caused by electrons accelerating in thunderclouds; and the next generation space telescope project. He is also promoting citizen science projects via crowd funding. He has conducted research at Stanford University and the Goddard Space Flight Center. In 2016, he won 1st prize at Kyoto University Interdisciplinary Research Idea Contest.

Tomoki Aoyama

Dr. Tomoki Aoyama focuses on Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and Regenerative medicine. Using his foundational knowledge from basic research he develops and applies his experiences to the medical field, discovering more fundamental research questions in the process. Recently, his research group developed a method of regenerating peripheral nerves using a Bio 3D Printer. The paper was published in PLOS ONE. He has co-developed a measurement system that evaluates the risks of falls by elderly people to raise public awareness of fall prevention.
