Maybe you have noticed that, in a world joggling with information snippets, filter bubbles and click baits, people believe weird things. But how to separate fact and fiction, especially online?
How shall we balance instantaneous reporting via social media and high-quality journalism? Have online news sites moved beyond reporting the news to inciting your outrage (and their page views) or is there an inherent bias in technology in general? A liberal bias, moral correctness or a confirmation bias, which lets you find only information and people that confirm your views? As search results have to be filtered, do you wonder about what you actually don't get to see and in which way algorithms are shaping our view of the world?
Let us discuss how the internet is able to distort our worldview and whether it is media that has the duty of providing us with a healthy information diet.
In times in which nationalism and globalism has led to a new divide of the people, it becomes more and more important to ask why we think we are right and if we might be wrong. Where, if not in our salon, can we practice to have a better conversation?
