Kavita Bahl

Film Maker and Journalist
Kavita Bahl is one of the leading media personalities of India. Ms. Bahl, along with her partner, makes documentaries on the prevailing and less-spoken about issues in India. Her documentaries like Once Upon A Forest, Cotton for My Shroud and Dammed have touched the hearts of many and won various awards. Ms. Bahl has a knack for storytelling and her documentaries have far-reaching effects. At TEDx JMI, she will be sharing the stories of the vast demographic of people she has worked with and how their ideas influenced her life trajectory.

Monis Ahmad Khan

Actor, Writer, YouTuber
He is one of the most outgoing students of Jamia Millia Islamia. His list of strong suits includes acting, poetry, comedy, and architecture just to name a few. Monis has a way with words when it comes to addressing a gathering and has multiple accolades to his name. He does live shows, runs a YouTube channel, and gets huge anchoring contracts from prestigious institutions such as Symbiosis and Delhi University.

Nandan Saxena

Film-maker and Journalist
A national award winning independent journalist, Nandan and his wife Kavita Bahl have together brought the most daunting realities of life to a bigger platform. He has worked his way in the industry through his most fascinating and captivating stories. Their documentaries focus on critical concerns like the suicides of farmers at Vidarbha, the issue of the dying rivers, the plight of the dam-displaced people, and the widows of the Green Revolution in Punjab. At TEDx JMI, Mr. Nandan Saxena will be speaking on the topic “The courage to say No.”

Rajesh Gokhale

Co founder of Vyome Biosciences and Scientist at NII
Dr. Gokhale is a scientist at NII and the co-founder of Vyome Biosciences (VYOME), a biopharmaceutical company developing drugs for dermatology care by utilizing genomics knowledge. He was the Director of CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) for more than seven years. During his tenure, he established the IGIB South Delhi Campus and also led interdisciplinary initiatives in translational genomics research towards resolving complex diseases. Mr. Gokhale has done extensive research on the tuberculosis pathogen and on skin pigmentation homeostasis, with a particular interest in Vitiligo. At TEDx JMI, his topic is “How can we cure chronic diseases” where Mr. Gokhale will reveal new ways to resolve recurring ailments which can reform the current the medical practice.

Ramakrishna Ramaswamy

Scientist and Professor at JawaharLal Nehru University
Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy is an eminent scientist and professor at School of Physical Sciences and Centre for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is currently the President of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore; a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy and The World Academy of Sciences; and was also the Vice Chancellor of University of Hyderabad (2011 - 2015). Prof. Ramaswamy’s research interests include the intersection of Nonlinear Dynamics and Computational Biology and he has authored several research articles in this domain. He has also written numerous interesting blogs on a multitude of topics, ranging from Physical Sciences to the Need of Communicating Science to General Public. At TEDx JMI, his topic is “Science Communication: From Labs to Huts”

Sadaf Hussain

Chef, Food Stylist and Blogger
Chef. Food Stylist. Blogger. Photographer. Graphic Designer. Mr. Sadaf Hussain has many titles under his belt. He was working in the social sector when he realized his true calling was ‘Cooking’ and he hasn’t looked back ever since. Mr. Sadaf was among the top finalists in MasterChef India 2016 and is a proud food enthusiast. By the day, he works in a German political consultancy institution and in the evening, he is a consulting chef, working with multiple restaurants in Delhi helping them and works to curate new menu and new dishes. He also writes on economics, politics, and food. He does food shows with India Food Network and Slomo Films on YouTube. He has his own website www.foodandstreets.com and is a regular contributor to NDTV Smartcooky about the history and origin of food. At TEDx JMI ‘17, he will be speaking on the History and Origin of Food.

Saeed Naqvi

Senior Journalist
Saeed Naqvi is a senior journalist. He has been a quintessential reporter and foreign correspondent for over four decades. He started his career as a staff reporter with The Statesman in 1964 and from there he rose up the ranks to eventually write for several Indian and global publications, including the BBC News, The Guardian, Washington Post, The Indian Express and Outlook magazine. In pursuit of his vision that Indians must cover foreign affairs, Saeed has traveled to over a hundred countries and has interviewed world leaders and personalities like Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro, Muammar Qaddafi, Henry Kissinger, Benazir Bhutto, President Hamid Karzai, J.R. Jayawardene and scores of others. He is also a notable war correspondent and has covered various international conflicts. At TEDx JMI, he will be discussing 'Imbalances in the global media and terrorism.’

Tanmaya is the youngest entrepreneur in the country to have successfully helped 20+ enterprises like MakeMyTrip, Airtel, PayU, Dunkin' Donuts, Dominos Pizza, Vistara Airlines and launch A.I. in HR for a real-time sentiment analysis. His startup inFeedo went viral in the XLRI fraternity. He was also known as the youngest millennial speaker around who is well versed with the topic of Predictive People Analytics.He has experience in varied domains such as product, sales, operations, technology, fundraising, and management. Communicating and learning from people helps him maintain a thread that connects seemingly diverse roles. He has been featured in Economic Times, Times of India, Hindustan Times, Business Standard, Gurgaon Times, Mint, YourStory, inc42, TechInAsia, VCCircle, BusinessWorld, Misfits. He uses his business and technology expertise to help people take a step further towards their dreams.
