In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Award-winning teacher, author, and coach. Early on, I learned unique lessons about leadership and self-discovery. At age 16, a time when I did not believe in myself and felt like there was no hope, I found myself trying to survive between homes of friends and family. It was during this time that I started to appreciate being surrounded by those who encouraged and believed in my potential to be more. With their help, I was able to get back on track, and start working toward my goals. After graduating high school, I attended Idaho State University and got my degree in Accounting. But I quickly realized my heart wasn’t in it. That’s when I decided to pursue my original plan in education.
