Many may claim that the world is getting smaller. Human nature and the development of our world however is testimony to the fact that there is still much to learn, experience and to enjoy. TEDxRNCM presents speakers who have experienced the threshold of The Big Wide World, who have gone above the expected and challenged traditions of their respective fields.

Aurora Percussion Duo

Musicians
The award-winning Aurora Percussion Duo have performed at some of the most renowned concert halls in the UK and China. Described as ‘superb’ by the Financial Times and ‘extraordinary’ by Classical Source, Aurora Percussion Duo produce adrenaline fuelled concert performances which are visually spectacular and physically demanding.

Dr Petya Eckler

Dr Petya Eckler (@PetyaEckler) works in the area of health communication and teaches journalism at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Her research focuses on the relationship between social media and body image, and more generally how users navigate various media and technologies and the effects on their health.

James McAulay is the Co-Founder & CEO of Encore, the largest online musicians network in the UK. James studied Computer Science at Cambridge and ran two small businesses in parallel with his studies before graduating and founding Encore at the age of 20. His mission is to create a fairer and more transparent music industry for musicians everywhere.

Leigh Timmis

Adventurer, Cyclist
Leigh Timmis is a round the world cyclist and speaker. His exciting and moving stories of survival, self-motivation and the kindness of strangers have been published in the international and national press (ABC Australia, BBC, Daily Telegraph), as well as him making appearances on BBC television and radio.

Stacey Copeland

Sportswomen, Boxer, Teacher
Stacey Copeland is an elite athlete who has represented her country in both boxing and football. European silver medallist, three-time national champion, and now one of only six professional female boxers in the UK, Stacey is determined to pave the way for others as she pursues her sporting dreams.

Tom Redmond

Musician, Presenter
Tom Redmond is a presenter and horn player. He was member of the Halle orchestra for 13 years and has also performed with most of the UKs leading orchestras. He has presented concerts to over 250,000 young people across the country and also works as a broadcaster for BBC Radio 3. He teaches horn at Junior RNCM and Chetham’s School of music.
