TEDxJakartaLive brought the TED day experience in the form of a slightly delayed screening of TED2011: The Rediscovery of Wonders. The enthusiasm and participation were beyond comprehension as 700+ unique visitors came throughout the day for multiple sessions.
Doors opened at 10am and all four sessions were shown with generous breaks in between to allow for discussions, meals, and general breaks. It was a free-flowing event with the auditorium being closed once each session had begun.
We were trying to mimic the TED Active environment with discussions boards, interactive touchscreens, inflatable chairs, Ipads for people to browse the speakers profile or watch their own TED talk of their own liking.
Our venue was split into three sections:
- The main auditorium : digitally decorated with TED2011: The Rediscovery of Wonders theme and speakers photos
- The exhibition area : digitally decorated with photos from TED and TEDx around the world, Wall of Tweets, Screening of the talks. In this space, visitors sat on the floor or on our inflatable chairs to watch the show. They could also play around with Google Liquid Galaxy machine.
- The TEDx corner: Space dedicated to more information on TEDxJakarta and TEDx in general to entice people to learn more and hopefully inspired to hold their own TEDx events.
People in Jakarta love TED and our event showed this big appetite for this great content. It was very important for our team to introduce the real TED to our community so they may understand it better to complement our TEDx events.
