In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amba Brown

Speaker, Coach, Author

Amba Brown is an Australian author, who holds a degree in psychology & sociology, with Honours in Positive Psychology. She is 31 years old, from Sydney, Australia, and has also lived in Asia and America. Her previous experience includes Psychological Investigations and employment at The Australian High Commission in Singapore before working as a full time author. Being the eldest of six siblings, Amba is passionate about alleviating youth anxieties. This passion resulted in the creation of the 'Finding Your Path’ book series, to support and inspire youth through their major life transitions; starting school, starting high school and finishing school. Aside from writing, Amba loves travelling, beach days and spending time with friends.

Entrepreneur - Sisu Girls

Chloe is currently the Innovation Director for the UN-hosted Global Humanitarian Lab and Founder of SisuGirls, a social enterprise focused on developing bravery, confidence and resilience in girls. She is passionate about women & girls empowerment, social entrepreneurship and community development.Previously, she has climbed some of the world’s highest peaks, run ultra-marathons in the Himalaya, driven overland across the African and European continents, and lived in six different countries.

Erika Neo

Instructor at RDA – Riding for the Disabled

Erika Neo is an energetic, dedicated and hardworking individual who seeks to contribute as much as she can to any task she takes on. Starting at the age of 6 in Singapore Polo Club, Erika grew up riding and has since carved out a career for herself in the Equestrian community just seven years ago. Her tenacity, enthusiasm and ability to do weird dances during sessions have contributed significantly to her ever-growing portfolio. Previous notable accomplishments include both writing and publishing ‘The Beginners Guide to Horse Riding with the Pursuit of Horses’ and the EQUAL-ARK (Equine Assisted Learning for At-Risk Youth) Syllabus. More recently, Erika has co-created an actor-training program that used horse-therapy as part of a devising and scriptwriting process. She has since been working at the RDA, with her portfolio encompassing managing the entire stable and running a few of the riding sessions in the afternoon. When free, Erika enjoys sampling Hawker food around Singapore.

Evan Goulios

Student

Like most adolescents, Evan went through a period of time in life where he had lost his sense of self, until one day, an epiphany changed his life forever. His revelation in the performing arts led him on a quest to find the secret behind how such moments of realisation could be triggered – and he just might’ve found it. Evan is a Year 10 student from The Australian International School who drives himself insane by taking on as many co-curricular activities as humanly possible. However, he participates with diligence, enthusiasm and of course, sarcasm. Evan takes a particular interest in the sciences and performing arts. At the end of a long school day, Evan enjoys letting his mind roam free with a pencil to a page.

Ian C. Woodward

Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD – the Business School for the World

Professor Ian C. Woodward directs INSEAD’s global senior leadership course - “Advanced Management Program”. Teaching, research focussing on strategic leadership and communication, together with leadership transformation for global business leaders. He uses innovative leadership development techniques related to human “drivers, blockers and values” and created the “communication intelligence” concept. He delivers innovative arts-based learning experiences for executives (being Associate Conductor of Singapore’s Metropolitan Festival Orchestra). His research is published in international academic journals, and was formerly Associate Faculty Director of Columbia Business School’s Senior Executive Program. Before academia, his career included Board Directorships, Chief Executive, Senior Executive and roles in government, the financial sector, energy and broadcasting sectors.

Jonathon Ooi

Student

Jon is a Year 10 student from The Australian International School, Singapore. He has been enthusiastically involved in co-curricular activity Model United Nations (MUN) since early 2016. He is very passionate about instilling global citizenship within fellow members of society, and believes that MUN is a wonderful tool that is invaluable to the vision of a brighter future. Recently, Jon had the opportunity of head chairing the Human Rights Council at a youth conference. When he isn’t preparing for the next conference or scouring the depths of YouTube in his ‘study time’, Jon enjoys playing tennis and binging on his favourite TV shows, from ‘Friends’ to ‘Suits’.

Katherine Perry

IB DP Coordinator - Australian International School, Singapore

Katherine Perry has been teaching at AIS in the Secondary School since 2012. Currently she is the IB DP Coordinator, working closely with the students as she teaches the core IB DP subject Theory Of Knowledge, as well as English A: Language and Literature and English B courses. Katherine has a Masters in Education possess tertiary qualifications in English, History, Journalism and Education, as well as Certificates in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Literacy Education. Prior to teaching, Kath was a journalist and thus is passionate about communication, the need for multi-literacy skills and believes the English Language to be a powerful communication tool and artistic medium.

Lance Alexander

Co-host – Channel NewsAsia

Lance Alexander is an Executive Editor and Presenter. He currently co-hosts Channel NewsAsia’s daily breakfast programme 'First Look Asia'. He first started his broadcast career in radio in 1990 before moving on to present the AM Singapore morning show for the Television Corporation of Singapore in 1992. After being away for more than a decade, Lance returned to Mediacorp in August 2012. Over the years, he has covered numerous international events including the FIFA World Cup, Formula 1, the Youth Olympics, the Asian Games and the Singapore International Marathon. Some of the biggest names in sport that he has interviewed include Guus Hiddink, Teddy Sheringham, Paul Parker, David Campese, Sir Richard Hadlee, David Coulthard, Alex Zanardi, Jacques Villenueve, Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg, Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber.
