Sheetal Shah is a psychologist in practice since 1999. She specialises in the field of counselling for chronic illnesses and special target groups like commercial sex workers and victims of human trafficking. She has worked with a team to establish India’s first helpline for telephonic counselling focused on issues related to HIV/ AIDS and sexuality (the 1st of its kind in Asia-for Population Services International (PSI), Washington. Having worked with diverse populations from different countries she is well sensitised towards the cross-cultural issues that influence client - counsellor dynamics.
Currently she is Head of department of Behavioral & Social Sciences at Webster University, The Netherlands and works passionately on the Bijlmer Project/Bridge 2 Hope; a research and intervention project that addresses the psycho-social and vocational needs of sexually trafficked women in the European Union.
