TEDxYouth@ACJC 2017, "Bridge Builders", is a celebration of the immense connections that bind us together, and bridge the vast gulfs between individual persons, as well as disparate communities. This event shares the stories of people and groups who have worked ceaselessly to connect people from diverse backgrounds, communities, proclivities, and beliefs, to create a more understanding, more equitable, and more united world.

Bruce Lockhart

Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Department of History
Professor Bruce Lockhart is an Associate Professor at the NUS Department of History and specialises in the modern history of Thailand and Indochina. He has spent more than twenty-five years in Southeast Asia, and is fluent in several Asian languages such as Vietnamese.

Chia Yong Yong

Lawyer and Nominated Member of Parliament
Ms Chia Yong Yong is the President of Society of the Physically Disabled, an organisation that is committed to working in partnership with people with disabilities to develop their potential. She is also a practising lawyer at her own law firm, Chia Yong Yong Law Corporation and was involved as a member of the Singapore Government's delegation to the United Nations Convention in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Conference of the State Parties, serving as a speaker at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs Forum on Disability and Development.

Dawn Tan

Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design
Dr Dawn Tan is an Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design where she leads the Photonics Devices and Systems Group which explores emerging nonlinear optical phenomena and methods to harness optical nanostructure. Her research have been featured in the Straits Times, the New Paper, USNews, the NSF and various media outlets. Previously, she was a senior engineer at Luxtera – a leader in CMOS photonics, where she worked in the field of silicon photonics and was recently featured as one of Asia's rising scientists in Asian Scientist Magazine and named an Innovator under 35 by MIT Technology Review, 2017.

Lim Teck Yin

Chief Executive Officer of Sport Singapore
Mr Lim Teck Yin is currently the CEO of Sport Singapore. As a sportsman, he was a former national water polo player with six Southeast Asian Games medals, one Asian Championship medal and a recipient of the Singapore National Olympic Council Team of the Year Award for 1986, 1989 and 1991. Asides from sports, he is a brigadier-general from the Singapore Armed Forces after 30 years of military service and is a board member of the Anglo-Chinese Schools and the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)

Viswa Sadasivan

Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Moves Pte Ltd
Mr Viswa Sadasivan is currently the CEO of Strategic Moves Pte Ltd – a corporate strategy and crisis management consultancy practice. He is an alumnus of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he completed a Master of Public Administration degree. Prior to what he currently does, he worked for the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation, where he was the presenter and producer of a number of current affairs television programmes before becoming the Senior Controller of the Current Affairs Division. He subsequently worked as Senior Manager for Corporate Planning and Business Development at Singapore Press Holdings, before joining the Canadian television company UTV International as its Chief Executive Officer. Moreover, he was also appointed as a Nominated Member of Parliament in July 2009.
