You are cordially invited to the next TEDxTheHague salon! Our March edition — themed Face the Facts — is curated by TEDxTheHague:

"Spin. Noise. Cynicism. We tumble around inside a washing machine full of confusing rhetoric. Who can you trust in a world that continues to change so fast? So let's cut to the chase. Boston Dynamics: Introducing Handle
Equipped with electric and hydraulic actuators, Handle, isn’t the run-of-the-mill robot, this not-so-little helper stands at 6.5 feet and holds the ability to zoom away at speeds of nine mph and make four foot vertical jumps. The robot is what nightmares are made of?

David Autor: Will automation take away all our jobs?
Here's a paradox you don't hear much about: despite a century of creating machines to do our work for us, the proportion of adults in the US with a job has consistently gone up for the past 125 years. Why hasn't human labor become redundant and our skills obsolete? In this talk about the future of work, economist David Autor addresses the question of why there are still so many jobs and comes up with a surprising, hopeful answer.

Hans Rosling: Religions and babies
Hans Rosling had a question: Do some religions have a higher birth rate than others — and how does this affect global population growth? Speaking at the TEDxSummit in Doha, Qatar, he graphs data over time and across religions. With his trademark humor and sharp insight, Hans reaches a surprising conclusion on world fertility rates.

David Puttnam: Does the media have a "duty of care"?
In this thoughtful talk, David Puttnam asks a big question about the media: Does it have a moral imperative to create informed citizens, to support democracy? His solution for ensuring media responsibility is bold, and you might not agree. But it's certainly a question worth asking.
