No risk, No gain! All of us have heard this at one point in our lives. However not many, have actually had the courage to go beyond the social norms. Few have actually followed their dreams and shattered conventions. It is this courage and the fiery passion which set these people apart.
This year, we at TEDxNSIT proudly bring to you scintillating talks by people who made it big, even while treading the path less traveled, and thus have been 'Redefining Conventions'.

Arpit Kothari

Entrepreneur

Arpit Kothari, is an entrepreneur and public health researcher. He graduated from IIT Bombay in Chemical engineering and was among the youngest to present at the 14th World Congress on Public Health. He has co-founded multiple businesses including Medd, a marketplace for healthcare services which was acquired by 1MG in 2016 and Central lab which provides high quality, affordable diagnostic solutions to the urban population. It does over 1 million tests for over 300,000 patients each year in 16 cities.

Avinash Jai Singh

Visual Artist

Avinash Jai Singh is a Visual Artist and Music-Video Director. After working with MTV, he directed a few more short stories and illustrated portraits.He has also featured in a number of publications such as Rolling Stone India, MTV Indies and Creative Gaga. Avinash has won PromaxBDA Asia Awards-Gold for Best Print Campaign, Best Editing, Best Print Campaign, Goafest ABBY - Bronze for Best use of Animation, to name a few.

Ekta Bouderlique

Director, University and Youth Programs for the Heartfulness Institute

Ekta Bouderlique,The Director of University and Youth Programs for the Heartfulness Institute is also the developer and creator of the "Quantum Core Two Points Method ",a form of healing that offers a novel confluence of ancient spiritual wisdom and recently discovered frontiers of quantum physics. The gamut of her past profiles ranges from that of being a Media anchor in France, an Ecology Activist to a speaker at several national and international forums. Her having lived in both India and France forms the plinth of her interest in cross culture communication. She is also the co-founder and Chargée de Communication at the Vedic Federation of France.

Hina Gujral

Food Blogger

Hina Gujral, after pursuing her MBA started her career as a financial analyst and worked for 4 years. However, this did not give her happiness. She chose to follow her heart and did what gave her contentment - Food Blogging. The switch of role from full-time banker to a food blogger filled her mundane canvas of life with colours of food. Apart from food blogging, she is into photography, recipe-creating, food-styling, and lots of taste-testing. Her mouth-watering food blog, ‘Fun Food and Frolic’ is a platform where she pens down easy to cook, and sumptuous recipes. According to Ms Gujral, food always does not need to be complicated to taste good, sometimes basic ingredients can create a satiating bowl of hearty meal. We all have been inspired by quotes like ‘No risk, No gain’ and ‘Ships are safest at the harbour’. But people like Ms Hina Gujral actually have the courage to tread on the road less travelled. TEDxNSIT proudly presents its next speaker, Ms Hina Gujral.

Ira Singhal

Ira Singhal, is the 2015 UPSC CSE AIR-1 and current Assistant Collector (Trainee) in the government of Delhi. Despite being deemed unfit for Indian Revenue Service, she did not lose hope and continued to strive and eventually made a mark for herself. After graduating from NSIT.She went on to ace the CAT with a 99.7 percentile and then completing a dual MBA from the prestigious FMS.She has worked as a Strategy Manager in Cadbury India and as a marketing intern at the Coca Cola Company and is now SDM,Saket.

Lakshay & Aayush Mohan Gupta

Born into a family of IITians and Physics gold medallists, Lakshay Mohan Gupta (Sitar) & Aayush Mohan Gupta (Sarod), left no stone unturned to pursue their dreams when they found true happiness and purpose in music. Defying stereotypes, they found support in their father, Mr. Shyam Mohan Gupta, Founder Director, VMC. They are grand disciples of Pt. Ravi Shankar, have also learnt under the tutelage of the legends of Maihar Gharana, such as Padmabhushan Smt. Sharan Rani and Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra and others. Hailed as one of the most talented musicians by Pt. Jasraj, they have won many prestigious awards and accolades from all quarters.

Lakshay Mohan & Aayush Mohan

Lakshay & Aayush have been acknowledged as one of the greatest cultural motivators and icons for the younger generation for preserving and propagating Indian Classical Music. They are the first Indians to be invited to perform at the Grammy Museum, Los Angeles. India Today hailed them as harbingers of classical music in 2016. Lakshay & Aayush are known to connect to all kinds of listeners while preserving and incorporating old musical compositions and techniques in their playing. Their album 'The Hidden Harmony " was nominated for GIMA Awards. After listening to their Jugalbandi at the Ravi Shankar Centre in 2012, Pt. Ravi Shankar, on seeing their talent, decided to launch them in the United States under his foundation. They have performed classical Sitar-Sarod duets at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues of the world some of which are : The Grammy Museum, Los Angeles ; David & Dorthea Garfield Theatre, San Diego ; Learn Quest Music Conference, Boston ; The Abbey Theatre, Columbus to name a few. Their prominent performances in India include the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, Pune ; Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan, Mumbai ; Saptak Festival, Ahmedabad ; Vishnu Digamber Jayanti Samaroh, Delhi; RIMPA Festival at Ravi Shankar Centre, New Delhi ; Ganga Mahotsav, Varanasi ; Delhi Classical Music Festival, Taj Mahotsav and many more. Lakshay & Aayush were felicitated by Ex-Lok Sabha Speaker Smt.Meira Kumar and Sh.Shatrughan Sinha on the 75th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Litterateur and Parliamentarian Late Dr.Shankar Dayal Singh.

Rohit Sardana is an Indian journalist, editor,anchor and media personality. Hailing from Haryana,Rohit started his career with Sahara Samay before joining Zee News in 2004 and is working there ever since.Having been associated with Zee News for the past 13 years, Rohit anchors Prime Time shows and has covered all major events during the period. Rohit is currently producing and presenting Karmakshetra – a daily show on Zee News.His previous accolade was "Taal Thok ke",a debate programme aimed at spreading awareness on various social issues.
