Theme: Nevermind

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Buğrahan Namdar

Buğrahan Namdar was born in 1994 in Erzincan, Turkey. Living in Bursa since he was 2, he studied in the maths and science IB program at TED Bursa College. Now he is a graduate from the Sabancı University bachelors program in International Studies. Throughout his experience at university, he participated in numerous social projects where he took legal, organizational and participatory roles. These organizations include Martı, AIESEC, YouthArt, Erasmus+ programs and more civil society works. While working for these social programs, he had the chance to travel and live in a wide range of countries, including Vietnam, Pakistan, Poland and the Netherlands. He is currently working for Istanbul Policy Center Conflict Resolution and Mediation Program on the "Post-Coup Opportunities on Conflict Resolution and Democracy Project".

Burçak Dağlı

Burçak Dağlı was born in Istanbul in 1976. After completing his primary and secondary education, he graduated from Science-Literature Faculty of Marmara University in 1999. He finished his master’s degree in Nuclear Energy Institution from Istanbul Technical University in 2002. He has been teaching Physics since 2003.

Deniz Lale İmer

Deniz Lale İmer is from İstanbul and is currently a senior at TED Bursa College. She has just finished the IB Program and plans to study media. Her life is all about music, TV shows, books, trying out new things and dogs.

Fatih Yelkenci

Fatih Yelkenci was born in Çanakkale, Turkey on 06.01.1999. He is really interested in cars and art. He used to know all the car brands when he was 2-3 years old. He finished his primary school and middle school in his hometown and moved to Bursa for high school. Now he is a student at TED Bursa College. He also enjoys doing graffiti. He wants to be an industrial designer in the future.

Gerçek Dorman

Gerçek Dorman began playing drums in 1996 and studied rock, funk and jazz drumming with Prof. Rod Morgenstein, Prof Yoron Israel and Dr. Jim Payne at Berklee College of Music. Afterwards, he studied "Electronic Music Production and Sound Design” at Berklee College of Music. In 2003 he started working in the field of multi-percussion. In 2005 he became a professional drummer and percussion instructor. He attended the ATMM (Audio Technologies for Music and Media) conference team for the years of 2011 - 2012. He wrote the 3rd and most comprehensive Turkish drum book called "D52 Drum Method - Basic Drum Lessons in 52 Weeks" He has accompanied many local and international acts while performing in the USA, Switzerland and Spain. As a professional educator and musician, he continues to work as a sound designer and product manager for SynthMaster, SynthMaster iOS, SyntMaster One Synthesiser Softwares, and KV331 Audio Software Company.

Kutay Derin

Kutay Derin is 17 years old and an 11th grader at Sami Evkuran Anatolian High School in Mudanya, Bursa. He is into chess and enjoy playing table tennis. He haa a huge interest in music and also read a lot of classical books and really love all kinds of different films. He is interested in science and love to learn about philosophy.

Melih Türkoğlu

Melih Türkoğlu was born in 2001 in Bursa, Turkey, and was always a curious child as far as he remembers himself. He loves playing chess and participating in social events and conferences. He is currently an IB student at TED Bursa College and dreams of being an engineer.

Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu

Neslihan Dostoğlu studied architecture at Middle East Technical University (B.Arch. 1978, M.Arch. 1981), and University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D. 1986). She served as the Chair of the Department of Architecture at Uludağ University for nine years, and became a member and president of the Council for the Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage in Bursa (1998-2008). Presently, she is the Chair of the Department of Architecture at İstanbul Kültür University, and Vice Chair of Turkish National Commission for UNESCO Cultural Heritage Committee. She is the author and editor of several books. She has also contributed articles to many national and international publications, and has received various awards in architectural design competitions. Her interest areas are theories and principles of design, and site management in Bursa.

Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu

Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz, received her BS degree in Physics from University of İstanbul (1989), her MS degree in Physics from University of Wisconsin, Madison (1992) and her PhD in Physics from Kansas State University (1999). She worked as a graduate teaching and research assistant and as a postdoctoral research fellow at Kansas State University. She was a faculty member in the Physics Department at İstanbul Technical University (2000-2010). She served as a visiting scientist at Kansas State University (in various times) and as a visiting Associate Professor of Physics at M.I.T. (2007-2009). She was a senior researcher at Feza Gürsey Research Institute (2009-2010). Her research interests lie in the physical properties of nano-scale materials and in molecular motors. She has published several research papers and review articles and is still active in research and teaching. In October 2010, she was appointed as a faculty member in Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabancı University and she has been the Vice President of Sabancı University since June 2011.

Sude Nur Demirci

Sude Demirci is 16 years old and is a student at Terakki Foundation Schools. Nature and dance are major parts of her life. She has been dancing since she was 4. She also likes nature sports and has been trekking since she was 9. She has been interested in learning about different cultures for 2 years. In addition to this, she has been travelling as much as she can to different countries as well as different parts of Turkey. For the past couple of years, she has also been interested in law and interpersonal and social relations. This interest has helped her develop a more analytical and critical mind which she believes prepares her for her future job - lawyer.

Tair Vakhpiev

Tair Vakhpiev was born in 2002, in Tahskent, Uzbekistan. He is currently an IB student at TED Bursa College. His passions include playing chess and playing football. His goal is to be successful in everything he does.

Umut Yıldız

Umut Yıldız graduated from Bursa TED College in 2013 and now is a senior year student in METU. He likes Operations Research and is currently planning to study Master’s in Cornell in this area for the next year. As a result of the learning outcome of his discipline, he is working on helping people to make better decisions and his talk will mainly be about how we should “nevermind” the things that block us from moving when we are trying to make decisions on issues regarding ourselves and the humanity. He is very happy for having the opportunity to share his ideas at TEDxYouth.
